Former La Porte City Girl To Be Married

Miss Merle Buchan, a former La Porte City girl, will wed Oliver Schutte of Waterloo on July 17 in Waterloo's new Lutheran church. A preview event hosted by Mrs. Guy L. Stainbrook featured Miss Buchan’s engagement news with lavender and gold decor and guests including Miss Faye Goodwin.

Sacred Heart Vacation School Returns With Two Sisters

Sacred Heart Church resumes Vacation School from June 2 to July 4 excluding end date. Sisters Angelica and Maxine from Waterloo Iowa will conduct daily sessions from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm offering lessons in religion devotion sacred music and related subjects for children from smaller parishes.

Maid of Honor To Sister Wedding At Cedar Rapids

Miss Nelle Roehlk attended her sister Helen Roehlk as maid of honor at the wedding of Helen to Marvin Levien held Saturday evening at the bride's parents Cedar Stupids home. Gerald Morava of Chicago served as best man. The bride, a Coe College graduate and teacher in Center Point, will live in Cedar Rapids after July 15. The groom is a practicing lawyer. Also noted is an Eastern Star Picnic in the city park Friday June 21 with dinner at 6 30 p m and attendees bringing dishes for their families.

A band concert on Main Street last night by the La Porte City band attracted one of the largest crowds here for a concert night. The program was praised, the band received hearty applause, and merchants reported strong business as cars filled the streets. A follow up concert is planned for next Wednesday evening inviting everyone to attend.

Fishing Trip to Clear Lake Ends Without Big Catch

A party led by Dr. L. F. Bailey with Thon Henry Cliff Strohecker and C. A. Brust spent Sunday at Clear Lake fishing. They enjoyed a pleasant day with no notable large fish caught and no bad meals reported among friends. Malt and pop, ice cold, at Kline's Department Store.
