Two 17 year old La Porte City youths Tru man Teeter and Duane Haberichter attended the 7th Hawkeye Boys State at Camp Dodge Des Moines. They learned how candidates are placed on tickets and how to vote wisely and will report to the American Legion post this fall. The week included caucuses, party assignments for 24 bars, and sessions on elections and government. Duane joined the band, and Truman was elected state line daughter of Rev. Wm S. Pitts. Anton Cecak Dies After Heart Attack at Home
Anton Cecak a La Porte City merchant died unexpectedly Monday evening at his 707 Locust street home at age 46 while haying on Mull Lane farm. He owned the Gamble Store with his wife Anna and had lived in La Porte City since February 1992. He was born March 9 1906 near Clut ters Town Oneida Township Tama County and married Anna Jans of Dysart in 1927. Survived by wife two daughters two sons his parents two brothers and three sisters. Funeral service held in La Porte City Methodist Church with burial in Midwest Garden of Memories.

Local Co Op Holds Annual Meeting in La Porte City
More than 190 members of the La Porte City Cooperative Elevators attended the annual meeting at the high school auditorium on Wednesday evening. Cliff Barr played Hammond organ music before the session and the Three Impersonators of Marshalltown gave a performance. Don Fdison of Des Moines spoke, the annual report showed profitable business, and directors were elected to fill terms for Cecil Feller and Clyde Craft with Finest Siemexer succeeding Feb. Interest checks on preferred stock were distributed to attendees, with absent members told to pick up at the Co Op office. A lunch was served by the Spring Creek Girls 4H club after adjournment.

Last Rites for Mrs Eric Fox Held Monday
Funeral services for Mrs Amie Fox 71 former La Porte City resident were held in Kearny Garden Chapel Waterloo Monday at 1 pm. The body was brought to La Porte City for burial in West View Cemetery. She had lived in Finchford and was a parent at Christie Convalescent Home Cedar Falls where she died Friday from complications. Born Arwilla Dora Sheets December 20 1880 in Missouri she moved to La Porte City as a youth. She married Eve Fox December 12 1907 in La Porte City and the couple lived in La Porte City and Waterloo before moving to Waterloo. Mr Fox died in 1942. Surviving are one son Sherman of Finchford one daughter Mrs Clifford Rathbon of Lake Quon Vi and five brothers John and Carl of Waterloo Myron of Los Angeles and two sisters Mrs Richard Smith of Alhambra and Mrs Harry Gant of Higginsville plus nine grandchildren.
