Dies From Injuries While Diving Near Waterloo
Leonard Mungen an employee of G. F. Dahlquist Contracting Co. of Minneapolis died from neck injuries after a diving accident in the Cedar River near Waterloo last Thursday. He was about 27, born in Cooperstown North Dakota, married to Mary Tran Beaten, and had worked in La Porte City driving paving material trucks. Funeral services were held in Walnut North Dakota.

Paving Delays Jeopardize Four Miles of Road Work
Heavy rain Tuesday evening left the paving south of town muddy and unsuitable for trucks. Work resumed this morning and, barring further delays, four miles of paving should be finished by Saturday night. Dr and Mrs G H Nies drove to Ames last Saturday to bring their son Ernest home from State College where he was a student last year.

Centerville Iowa June 10 A voluntary 17 percent reduction in light and power rates was announced by Iowa Southern Utilities Co. affecting 140 towns in the district. The price drops from 16 to 10 cents per kilowatt hour and a new lower rate for the next 25 kilowatt hours is set. The change marks a 4 percent drop from rates six years ago.
