Co-Op Elevator to Hold Annual Meeting Wednesday

The La Porte City Co-Operative Elevators will hold its annual meeting in the high school auditorium on Wednesday night June 18. The event includes officer elections for expiring terms Walter Fehl Clyde Craft and Deen Feller and entertainment by Mrs Chiff Burr with Hammond electric organs and impersonators. A lunch will be served in the school cafeteria and interest checks on preferred stock will be distributed to holders of record. All members are urged to attend this business meeting.

Couple Weds In La Porte City Methodist Church

Miss Joan Wilken, a local schoolteacher, married Earl H. Strohecker in a Thursday evening ceremony at the La Porte City Methodist Church. Rev Oliver Jensen officiated at 7:30 PM with a double ring vow setting of white seven branched candelabra and yellow white flowers. The couple, flanked by family and close friends, will reside in the Gouverneur apartment on First Street after a brief honeymoon. Miss Wilken is a Gladbrook High School and ISTC Cedar Falls graduate, member of Sigma Eta Chi.

Funeral services for five year old Michael Schreiber were held Wednesday at 2:20 PM in the Kearns Garden Chapel Waterloo with Rev Charles Gounell officiating. Born Nov 24 1947 in Waterloo he was the son of Lavern and Marlys Schreiber and survived by his parents sister Marcia and brother Max and grandparents. He died Sunday from injuries in a car train collision at West 12th Street crossing near Waterloo. his aunt Alene Schreiber was driving the car and survived with injuries.
