Promotional efforts by Support La Porte aim to bring the 70-piece Vancouver Beefeater Band to La Porte City between June 25 and 27. Fine Improvement to Area Phone Service
The La Porte City Farmers Mutual Telephone Company completed 28 miles of underground cable laid by Sheldahl Construction of Slater Iowa. The project creates backbone one party service with plans for four party service, replacing prior eight or more party lines. Most cable was laid across the river with sections near the country club and Mt Auburn. Cable work took ten days and crews now connect wires to homes and test wiring.

Gil Scouts Join Boys In Keep America Beautiful
Wapsipinicon Area Council Boy Scouts will partner with Conestoga Girl Scout Council units to conduct a large litter pickup across eight counties on a Saturday in June. Tornado Sighted But La Porte Escapes Harm
Violent storms and some tornadoes swept across Iowa Monday night causing property damage in northwest Iowa and crop damage in Black Hawk and Benton counties. A tornado alert remained in La Porte until 2 30 a m Tuesday. A twister south of La Porte took a roof off a building at John Herman farm but moved away without further damage. Large hail and heavy rain damaged roofs, windows, gardens, and crops across La Porte and Linn County towns including Toddville and Center Point, with replanting likely in some fields.
