The Red Ball Cafe basement blaze was fought by the Independent Fire Company, with early flames confined to the basement and front room. losses were heavy to stock and fixtures. A later house fire near Asa Johnson’s farm destroyed a farm home with about 1000 in losses, limited insurance, and neighbors aiding in salvage.
