The wedding of Miss Bernadette Bernard of Dunkerton and Ralph Kayser of Independence was held last Thursday morning in a Catholic church in Independence. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs A W Deinard of Durkerton, is known in the Hopper home circle, while the groom is a young farmer planning a farm near Independence.

Realism Plus shoots Call of the Wild at Mount Baker set
Realism Plus crew headed by William Wellman and stars Clark Gable Loretta Young and Jack Oakie filmed at Mount Baker Washington 12 000 feet up 65 miles from the nearest city. They faced the worst blizzard in six years and exhausted supplies before a relief expedition rescued them for a weeklong shoot at the Pastime Theatre location.

Della Rice Fickes Dies in Sioux Falls Stroke
Relatives here were notified Sunday of the death of Mrs. Della Rice Fickes at her home in Sioux Falls South Dakota from a stroke. Her husband died January first this year. She formerly lived in Spring Creek township and married C. E. Fickes on December ith 1918. Prior to marriage she taught school. Surviving are sister Mrs. Robert Miller Moberly Missouri and two brothers Will and Lent Rice of this vicinity.

Death summons Mrs L N Wright in La Porte City
Final summons came Wednesday morning February 26 at about three o clock after four years of failing health from heart disease and complications since the death of daughter Mrs J M Wubbadh. Surviving children include William G Wright Mrs Katherine Talhfass Lewis Wright Jr Mrs Lela Ohrt Mrs Opal Wylie and Mrs William Handt with Alice Hubbard the oldest who died 1923. A cancer society service will be held tomorrow afternoon at the Evangelical church conducted by Rev W F Brecher with interment in West cemetery.

The regular monthly meeting of the Woman's Auxiliary of the American Legion met Monday afternoon at the home of Mr W Kocher. Mrs Charles Lowes and Mrs Roberta Berryhill attended. Mrs Earl Dexter read an article on National Defence and the Des Moines supply shelf project was completed. Mrs Glenn C Teeter will open her home for an Auxiliary Kensington on Monday afternoon March 22. On Tuesday evening the Auxiliary will hold a card party at the Legion hall inviting ex service men and their votes. Ladies are asked to bring sandwiches.

Cold Weather Improves After Stiff Winter
Extreme cold that lasted for days eased as Sunday brought a rise in temperature to about forty degrees. Snow melted quickly, leaving roads and fields covered in water and slush. By Wednesday morning a second drop occurred, with temperatures near ten above zero. Today the weather is fair and expectations grow for better conditions in Iowa.
