World Day of Prayer services under the Council of Church Women will be held Friday February 29 throughout the United States and in many other countries. In La Porte City the event is at 2 PM in the Evangelical United Church. Leaders include Frank Nabholz and Robert Estep with Mrs Jenee Bolte guiding the meeting. Bus service between Waterloo and Cedar Rapids via La Porte City will adopt a new schedule starting March 1. The Cedar Rapids morning trip shifts to 2:53 p.m. The Waterloo morning run remains 1 a.m. while the afternoon Waterloo trip moves to 4:45 p.m. The La Porte City to Cedar Rapids 4:30 p.m. trip on Mondays to Thursdays and the 11:40 p.m. Friday to Sunday run will be discontinued.

The body of Rey Lee Main FC-2 arrived from San Diego with his brother Clyrle for an American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars escort. A full military funeral was held at the Methodist church with county and local guards, and the Mt Al hurt cemetery burial rites observed. The procession included several uncles and family members with taps and a final salute.
