Mengels Observe 61st Wedding Anniversary
Mr and Mrs George Mengel Sr of west of town celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on Sunday with open house from two to five p m ice cream and cake for relatives and friends. They married February 16 1887 and farmed most of their married life later moving to a farm west of La Porte City now home. They have five children twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The Big Creek Junior Farmers met Monday evening February 9 with Duane Haberichter present. All but one member attended and they voted to supply garden seeds for a needy family in Germany. Golden wedding anniversaries mark Mengel family history

Congregation approves purchase of parsonage property

Red Cross Drive Gets Underway In City
The annual Red Cross membership drive begins this week with the local chapter aiming for 100 percent city participation by March 1. Dues are $100. A Mayors office meeting elected Mrs. Wallace Franklin as president, L L Froning as vice president, Mrs Ogden Fosse as secretary and R A Heyden as treasurer.
