Charles T Schaible Answers Call From La Porte Cr
Charles Ty Schaible, longtime La Porte City area resident, died last Thursday following illness due to Bright's disease and complications. He was born June 27 in the family farm home southeast of La Porte and lived in the community before moving to Watertown. Survived by widow Mrs. Mary Pearsons Schaible, two daughters Freda Chester and Marvey Himes, Jean Sunalic, and two grandchildren. Funeral was held Saturday at the home of Mr and Mrs Ney E Astley in La Porte City with burial in West View. Interment followed at West View Cemetery. He was active in local metalworking and construction enterprises and worked as a painter and decorator. He is survived by two daughters and two grandchildren, with two sisters and two brothers previously deceased.

Eightieth Birthday Observed At Daughter’s Home
Mrs. m. . Keargru marked her eightieth birthday on a Tuesday February 5th. She visited her daughter Sr. J. W Kober’s home next door for noon lunch. Her daughter Sylvia V. Smith became Mrs. Simon J. Tedford in 1876. the couple lived on a farm in Tama County before moving near La Porte City and later to town. Tedford died in 1917. Mrs. Tedford’s daughter Tande married Frank Garber of Okanogan Washington, and she continues to maintain her own home. Two daughters, Mrs. J. W. Rober and Mrs. Frank Garber, remain close as she nears her birthday.

All Day Meeting of Theift Club Held at Fell Home
An allelay meeting of the Theift club was held in February at the home of Mr and Mrs George Fell. Husbands joined for noon dinner with Mr and Mrs J C Woshe visiting. Hip Broken in Fall. Tonk, a farmer south of town, fell on ice at noon and fractured his hip. He was found by a passing motorist and taken to the house, then moved to Waterloo hospital before returning home. He is eighty one and in frail health.
