The death of Geo H Schuch occurred suddenly Saturday noon Jan 2 at his home in Long Beach California after a flu illness. Born March 27 1863 he lived here and married Rebecca Belzer in 1891. Survived by widow, son Harold deceased, relatives and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held Thursday in Long Beach and body placed in Sunnyside mausoleum.

Farmed Injured by Shotgun Accident Near Washburn
Jake Gales a farmer from two miles south of Washburn was badly injured Sunday afternoon when a shotgun discharged while he and his thirteen year old son hunted. The shot struck his chin and lung, after he dropped the shell to clear snow from the barrel. He walked about a mile to his home before a La Porte City doctor treated him and he was taken to a Waterloo hospital. Doctors expect recovery.
