Raymond Alternate Designated As I-380 Route By Highway Commission
The Raymond alternate for Interstate 380 between Cedar Rapids and Waterloo was designated as the new Super highway route by the Highway Commission. The 47.5 mile divided highway is projected to cost 50.8 million dollars and will run from Cedar Rapids north and west to Center Point Urbana Brandon and Gilbertville linking with the 520 freeway and present highway 20 south of Raymond. Final approval rests with the Federal Highway Administration which funds 90 percent of the project with grading to begin in 1977.
