Frankes celebrate twentieth anniversary and wedding of John G Frank

Mr and Mrs J G Frank marked their twentieth wedding anniversary last Sunday. Relatives gathered at their home after church for a picnic and social time. John G Frank wed Ella M Anton at noon on August 18 1907 in the Anton home with Rev L F Smith officiating. The couple began housekeeping on the Frank farm southeast of town later moving to La Porte City. They built a modern home near Main Street and now reside there. The Woman's Auxiliary of the American Legion installs new officers for the year. In a Monday meeting Mrs. Charles Loveless installed Charlen Kocher as President Clyde Jenks as first vice president Ida Fox as second vice president Wallace Franklin as secretary Louie Schreiber as treasurer Marry Perigo as chaplain Roy Hawkins as historian and V Konicek as sergeant at arms. The Legion met nearby and Auxiliary members served refreshments after the sessions.

Annual Meeting of Black Hawk County Farm Bureau Held in Waterloo

The Black Hawk County Farm Bureau elected officers for the coming year at its Waterloo meeting. E E Mattingly became president, A G Largen vice president, A L Kreger secretary, Ora Howard treasurer, with Herry Craft named township director. Women’s officers were chosen as Mrs Ora Howard chairwoman, Mrs P L Friedley vice chair, and Mrs Albert Nielsen secretary. Succeeding president S O Smalling of La Porte City declined re election after three years. Also notes on poultry for sale from J F Gay, Buff Orpington cockerels priced 2.60 to 4.00 each.
