Mrs H D Beal longtime La Porte City resident died Saturday at Allen Memorial Hospital after a period of illness age 61 Born Oct 29 1867 in Bronson Michigan she came to Iowa as a child and lived on farms in Dysart and Bruce Township She married Harry D Beal Jan 13 1886 and later moved to La Porte City Survivors include four daughters Mrs John Bolte Mrs Ted Richards Mrs William J Grobe and Mrs Arlene Gravenhorst five grandchildren and one great grandchild plus a sister in Byron SD Funeral services were held at the La Porte City Methodist Church with Rev Oliver Jensen in charge a local quartet sang They were laid to rest beside her husband who died in 1945.

John Dudgeon Dies at 65 in La Porte City Home
John Dudgeon 65 died at his 9055 Madison street home Wednesday night from a long illness. He was born January 26, 1883 in Vinton and lived in several towns before moving to Waterloo then La Porte City in 1916. He married Ada Walte in 1927 and leaves wife six nephews and three nieces. Funeral arrangements at Johannsen Funeral Home with burial in West View Cemetery.

Legion Donates 200 To Uniform Fund
The USS San Diego American Legion Post of La Porte City voted at the regular meeting Tuesday night to donate 200 to the fund for new uniforms for the local high school band. Legion members felt that debt freedom of their building makes the uniform fund the most urgent cause.

Messiah Is Planned Sunday at La Porte Methodist Church

Mrs Elmer Koch Breaks Leg in Porch Fall
Mrs. Elmer Koch of the town’s east side broke both leg bones above the ankle Wednesday afternoon after slipping on the front porch steps. She lay exposed in the cold until passing motorists failed to stop, then managed to reach indoors and was taken by ambulance to Presbyterian hospital for treatment of shock and leg injuries. Her husband, employed at John Deere in Waterloo, found her around six o’clock. Nearby, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Haberich and family visited Helena Fultz at St Luke’s hospital in Cedar Flopida Sunday and joined her for supper.

Rose Hayzlett Dies at 88 in Iowa Falls Friday
Rose Hayzlett of Iowa Falls died Friday at Ellsworth hospital aged 88 after a period of declining health. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at the rural Rome church conducted by the Loyal Presbyterian pastor with burial at Slat Lodeo. Survived by four children and several grandchildren, she had long ties to La Porte City and was active in local schools and the Presbyterian church.

Lillian Hebell Jutiler service held for Jo Jubilee native
Funeral services were held for Lillian Hebell at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo after a prayer service at Parker funeral home in Jesup. Born January 10, 1909 in Jubilee Township, she lived in the Jubilee area and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church. Surviving are her mother, stepfather Henry Hoppe, two brothers Karl and Elvin Hebell, 15 nieces and nephews, and numerous relatives. Interment followed in Jubilee Lutheran Cemetery.
