Services Held Sunday for George Anton
Funeral services for George D. Anton 85 of Waterloo were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 at Johannsen Funeral Home with Rev. LeRoy Carter presiding. Burial followed in West View cemetery. He died Friday at Woodlawn Convalescent Home from a stroke and complications after a three week illness. He was born in La Porte City April 6 1867 and survived by a daughter Mrs Verne Kelley Cedar Rapids a son Dr Carlton Anton Sheridan Wyoming five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Out of town relatives attended from Des Moines Cedar Rapids and Waterloo.

Ray Bowers 69 of this city died Sunday afternoon likely from a heart attack. He lived alone at 902 Main St and was found by city patrolman Henry Kruse after neighbors noted a burning bathroom light. Born March 12 1883 in La Porte City he worked 53 years for Rock Island Railroad and retired two years ago. Funeral services Wednesday at Johannsen Funeral Home with organ music and a family burial at West View cemetery.
