The Farmers Supply Co announces the new Monarch feed mill is completed and in operation. The facility is large enough to handle all grain received and features labor saving loading and unloading equipment. Manager Mr Hess invites farmers and others to visit and see the mill at work, noting prompt, high quality grinding results.
Welter Fox was struck by a car driven by Lyle Kline, a high school student, near the crossing between Hotel Terry and the offices of Dr. St T Page and Dr Bailey. He suffered bruises and a possible leg injury, but no fracture. he remained at home.
Rev D W Morgan pastor of La Porte City Presbyterian church honored as stated clerk of Waterloo Presbytery at yesterday's Waterloo meeting. Other business included reception of three ministers from other presbyteries.
The Thistle Rebekah lodge held a home coming last Thursday with ninety nine attendees. Out of town members and visitors included Mrs Frank Kenney Jesup Mrs Lena Schnagk Charles City Judd Page Waterloo F A Grow Charles City and Mrs Urban Rice of ML Auburn. Supper in two courses preceded a program with prayers openings and welcomes and readings and talks by members. The evening ended with five hundred and pink and green decorations enhancing the lodge room and tables.
The Community Club elected officers at last Thursday's meeting in Mrs Ine Slime home with Mrs Henry Thee as president and Mrs Mary Winslett as vice president. The treasurer is Henry Hilmer and the flower and trait chair is Mrs Wile Swartz. A Christmas party for members and families is set for Friday evening December 26 at Mr and Mrs John L Youngs home. Contests games and supper will be provided. Members should bring a covered dish and a wrapped gift for each family member.
La Porte City merchants will close stores all day Monday December 26 for Christmas holiday. In the week before Christmas stores will stay open evenings for shoppers. T C Kleist sells ball band robbers and Lion brand work shoes. Kline's Department Store offers more toys dishes and Christmas gifts. Amber coffee has stood the test for over twenty years. Dee, signing as BERS F. N. Davis, announces taking over the Quality Cafe and plans a chicken dinner opening next Sunday. Sunday dinners priced at 60 cents and weekday meals at 40 cents, including a regular dinner with pie, seeking patronage.

La Porte City basketball fans witnessed a hard fought 28 to 26 overtime win over Geneseo in the season opener. The game featured a tense finish, a large home crowd, and lookahead notes to upcoming games against Dunkerton and Vinton with Shell Rock doubleheader plans in late December and February.
Lotus Club members and guests enjoyed a pleasant evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Morgan with a six thirty picnic supper and a game of progressive five hundred. The Missionary Society met Tuesday evening at Mrs. H D Beat's home with assisting hostesses Mrs. William Sawyer Mrs C C Hahn Glenn Teeter and Miss Ora gan Brooklin. Mrs Glenn Maven presided and Mrs W W Cooper led devotion. The program reviewed chapter three of Adventures of the Church and featured a missionary playlet. Arvid Brande reported on the Mason City district convention and Mrs Sarah Becker of the Western Old People's Home Cedar Falls presented a $10 gift to the society. Lunch followed with a short social.
A member of the Izaak Walton League urges readers to provide bird feed as heavy snow yesterday makes it hard for song and game birds to find sustenance. The appeal calls on Waltonites and supporters of wild birds to do a good deed by putting out feed now.
About forty Walton Chapter members braved bad weather for a six thirty dinner at King Cafe then held a business session and the initial officer election. Roy E. Wagner opened the meeting outlining chapter work and members offered brief remarks. Elected officers include Dallas Husmans as President L J Tutt as First Vice President C A Drust as Second Vice President Chas Uummel as Secretary Dr L F Baale as Treasurer Roy E Ashley.
Fred Walther celebrated his birthday last Sunday with relatives and friends at the Walther home. The gathering enjoyed a fine noon dinner and evening lunch provided by Mrs. Walther.
Thistle Rebekah lodge will hold its regular meeting this evening in the hall. Part of the session will include electing officers. Tomorrow a social dance will be enjoyed by members and invited guests, with members allowed to bring a friend.
The Good Cheer club and friends surprised Mr and Mrs Tripp at home on their twentieth wedding anniversary. Thirty five attended an evening of progressive five hundred with a picnic lunch and two wedding cakes. Before departure they gave the couple an old fashioned charivari.
The Woman's Relief Corps convened last Saturday for routine business and annual insertion. The December meeting of the Presbyterian church met yesterday afternoon in the basement rooms. Owing to a new storm Tag ng the attendance was lighter than usual. Mrs. A. M. Thompson presided, with devotion led by Mrs. G. E. Stebbins. The program featured Liam and The Southern Mountaineers presented by Mrs. D. W. Morgan and Mrs. O. W. Hamsworth. The missionary box was not yet full and additional contributions may be left by Mrs. W. H. Bahr. Plans were made for a bake sale one week from Saturday. The session ended with social refreshments served by hostesses Mrs. W. D. Lyle, Inez Glime, Arthur Cober, J. W. Kober, Ida Fox and Percy Haven.
The Tzank Walton League requests an end to all muskrat trapping at Goose Pond to keep the pond open for fish. Readiness to use the jaw is stated if the notice is ignored.
