A Chrismon service was held at 7:30 p.m. on December 3, 1972, at St Paul United Methodist Church. church ladies crafted white and gold ornaments for a sanctuary tree symbolizing Christ and Monogram. Readers, soloists, ushers, and junior MYF assisted. tree lights were turned on by Philip Bair.

Area Residents Injured In Sunday Morning Crash
Three La Porte City residents were injured in a Sunday dawn crash near the bluffs between Vinton and La Porte City. Martha Hodges suffered a broken toe a possible broken nose and facial bruises. Ramona Hodges had multiple facial injuries needing skin grafting. Harvey Hodges endured dental injuries and jaw concerns requiring medical evaluation. All were treated at Scholtz Memorial Hospital.

S/Sgt Michael Morris Earns Second Distinguished Flying Cross
U S Air Force Staff Sergeant Michael D Morris son of William J and Mrs Morris of 904 Chestnut La Porte City Iowa received his second Distinguished Flying Cross and his 11th Air Medal for aerial actions in Southeast Asia. He served as HH 53 helicopter pararescueman in open doorway positions under fire during downed aircrew rescue missions. Medal presentation occurred at Tyndall AFB Florida where he serves with Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Service. Morris is a La Porte City High School graduate and his wife Cynthia is daughter of Raymond and Mrs Johnson of La Porte City.
