Heart Monitor Drive Aims to Fund Local Ambulance Gear

A drive to raise 8500 dollars for a heart monitoring machine for La Porte City ambulance begins today. Chairman Dave Moore leads committee members Tom Mc Dermott Bob O Connor Jan Finke Dean Fehl and Dennis Huiseman with Jim Schmidt of Allen Memorial Hospital providing technical help and Dr Karl Jauch sponsoring. The machine was shown to EMTs firefighters and City Council members at the Fire Station on November 22. Donations or memorial gifts may be given to any committee member firefighter or La Porte City State Bank. Checks payable to Heart Monitor Equipment Fund. Contributions through December 31 are deductible from 1976 taxes.

Stores Open Extra Hours In La Porte City Holiday Promotion

La Porte City merchants extend hours to 9 p.m. from December 13 to 23 to boost local shopping. Participating stores issue Auction Bucks usable for a December 18 auction at the old Jr High gym, where 48 items including an Amana Radar Range and 10 speed bike will be bid. Santa visits December 18 and accepts letters mailed by December 20 with return address. Jayceeettes assist.

Liability suits target parents over juvenile damages

The Waterloo School District filed lawsuits against four youths ages 16 to 19, two parents, and a grandparent. They seek amounts totaling $7,245 from one family, as state law increasingly holds parents liable for their children's actions.

Tele-A-Care Volunteers Meeting at Senior Center

Tele-A-Care volunteers are asked to meet at the Senior Citizens Center at 12 30 p m Thursday December 2 following the noon meal for regular volunteers and substitutes. ASC Township Committee Election by Mail 1976

The Black Hawk County ASC Township Committee election will be conducted by mail from November 26 to December 6, 1976. Eligible ASC voters receive secret ballots by mail with voting instructions. Extra ballots are available at local ASCS offices if not received. ballots must be returned in person or by mail by December 6 1976. Participation is open to all farmers regardless of race religion sex color or national origin.

Ebenezer and Friends Mini Musical for Elementary Program

An elementary Christmas mini musical Ebeneezar and Friends will be part of the December 6 program at 7 30 p m in Matt Auditorium. Junior High student Brian Anton stars as Scrooge with Jeff Finke as Bob Cratchit Tom Scoggin as Tiny Tim Jim Barr as Marley and John Sides Rhonda Bushnell and Patty Kimble as the spirits. The Elementary band led by Harlan Rice plus Christmas songs by fourth to sixth graders directed by Mary Potter will follow. Public invited.

Letters To Santa Invite North Pole Mail to La Porte City

La Porte City youngsters may mail letters to Santa Claus at Frosty Lane North Pole now through December 20. Include a return address so Santa can send an answer.

Two La Porte City women serve as officers in the Northeast Iowa Chapter of the Iowa Kidney Foundation. President is Mrs. Carol Palmer and secretary treasurer is Mrs. Carole Anne Wellner. A meeting is set for 7 30 p m Tuesday December 7 in Room 104 at St Francis Hospital Waterloo. The public is invited. The group notes kidney disease as a leading cause of death and outlines new Iowa driver licenses to begin January 1 1977 featuring HEL P number and photo. Drivers may exchange licenses for 1 00 if not due to expire. renewals remain 5 00 for two years or 10 00 for four years.

ALCW Christmas Tea Dec 7 at 7 p.m.

The American Lutheran Church Women invite all women of the community to a Christmas Tea on Tuesday December 7 at 7 p.m. The program theme is Christmas Is For Children and attendees are urged to bring teenage daughters and small children. Committees include Ellsworth and Neil in serving and Bagenstos and Glime on decorating. Refreshments follow in the Fellowship Hall.
