Koepke Hurls 5-Hitter in 19-4 Win Over Geneseo
Koepke, La Porte City lefty, threw a five hitter as the Red Birds crushed Geneseo 19 to 4 on Sunday. Eight runs in the third inning sealed the rout, while Geneseo used four pitchers to slow the attack. The bottom half of that frame featured five hits and four errors producing eight runs. Geneseo finally scored three in the fifth, but Koepke shut them down the rest of the way, with Lambert and Brandt briefly threatening in the fourth and fifth. Continuous offense backed by solid defense secured the big win for La Porte City.
