La Porte City Schools Announce 1966-67 Registration Schedule
La Porte City Community Schools outline registration for the 1966-67 year on August 17 and 18. Kindergarten to grade six attend the new elementary building at 8:25 AM, while grades seven to nine meet at the junior high with 8:20 AM start. High school grades ten to twelve convene at the high school with 8:20 AM classes. New 10–12 registrations run 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and all high school students pay fees on August 17 and 18. Book rental for junior and senior high is $6, lunches rise to 30 cents weekly or 40 cents daily, tower service $1.50 per semester, and pupil insurance ranges by grade. Junior high registration is August 17–18, with hours 9:00–12:00 and 1:00–4:00, and classes start August 24. Elementary registrations occur August 17–18, with the secretary’s office open 9:00–12:00 and 1:00–4:00. Timson Guinea Pigs Build Small Family Business
Darel and Bonnie Timson started with two pet guinea pigs and now manage about 118 animals. They sell piglets to Charles Saul of Waterloo, who supplies hospitals and labs in Des Moines and Chicago for disease, cosmetics, gas and genetics research. Each litter yields 1–10 pups, with mothers producing every 65 days. piglets are sold at 2–3 weeks old once disease free and antibiotic free. The Timsons aim to sell 50–60 per week by December.
