Princeton names Kernan to end deanship in 1977
President Bowen announced Alvin B. Kernan will conclude his role as dean of the Graduate School after the 1976 77 year and return to teaching and scholarship on the Princeton faculty. He will be replaced by Dean Aaron Lemonick coordinating the search with broad outreach.

The Distinguished Service Award of the Association of American University Presses was given to Sen Claiborne D Pell for his support of scholarly publishing. The June 11 dinner at Princeton University Press highlighted Pell's work with the National Historical Publications and Records Commission and his role in founding the National Endowment for the Humanities.
