Former Gibson County Man Convicted of Murder in Roseburg
Dr Richard Brumfield a former Gibson County resident was convicted of the murder of Dennis Russell in Roseburg Oregon on October 20 and sentenced to hang on January 13 1922 The defense announced an appeal and Brumfield was to be moved to the state penitentiary in Salem that night His wife attended the sentencing and Brumfield made a lone remark I do not know hogs his death The jury recommended the extreme penalty and a transcript was due by January 2 1922
