Thousands pass in review as five mile parade features floats bands and decorated cars greeting surprised Princeton citizens. Dinner at fairgrounds served on an 1800 foot horseshoe shaped table. an enjoyable afternoons program and warm sunshine welcome progressive farmers of Gibson County at the first annual picnic.
Thousands view a five mile parade through Princeton as nearly 800 cars showcase farm pride. Each township debuts lavish decorations with banners calling for farmer unity and relief from low prices. Virgil Mood leads the procession with the Patoka delegation and Walnut Grove’s decorated float features a taxes motif and pro farm messages.
The Princeton audience welcomed about forty local business men who led a parade to the fairgrounds on parade day. The group sang a greeting to farmers and wives, then the Patoka township jazz band played encore. Center township and White River township also showcased decorated cars and school groups. The dialogue shifts to local politics with Democrat Charles A. Niemeier named as mayoral candidate and a call to read the party platform.
On page three this issue begins the opening chapters of a new serial story The Green Pea Pirates by Peter Kyne author of Webster Man's Man. The Democrat notes Kyne's recent success and recommends the new tale to readers who enjoy good stories.

Washington says President Harding convened a public labor board conference to seek settlement between railway executives and employees. Warren S. Stone and W. G. Les of unions declined to discuss outcomes, while R. S. Binker of the Railway Executives warned wage cuts could trigger rate responses.
Chicago officials report railway union chiefs left at noon with secret orders to call a general strike. They met in secret conference through the night and expressed little hope of averting a walkout. Strike notices to be mailed tomorrow.
In Chicago on October 15, 500 general chairmen of two million workers met to plan a wall out if no wage demands are met. W. G. Lee of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen predicted a strike. Reports say a 10 percent cut for skilled labor and 25 percent for unskilled workers could take effect as payrolls change. Railroads warn of possible bankruptcy if freight rates cannot be cut.
The Elks lodge announces a season of entertainment beginning October 34 for members and families. A Fine Arts Mixed Quartet leads the opening program, followed by four other high class numbers during the evening. A dance will be held each night for those who wish to attend. The Redpath Bureau will provide attractions, including a top musical quintet and a novelty act, promising a varied bill.
