Republican Old Guard leaders plan a movement to disband the agricultural bloc that spans parties. Senator Kenyon calls a meeting of farming district senators to reunite the bloc and press for farmer interests with anticipated attendance by Secretary Wallace and possibly Bernard Baruch.
Reduced freight rates on sand gravel and crushed stone for public highway work to take effect in Indiana within a month. Governor McCray highway and public service commissions and railroad reps reached agreement. Reductions based on 115 percent of August 25 1920 rates, with no rate below Michigan scale, potentially saving thousands per mile in road construction.
The Rev. Dr. A. W. Jamison of 7Zenia Ohio will preach both morning and evening at the United Presbyterian church this Sunday. The public is cordially invited to attend.

The body of 12 year old Jeanette Lawrence was found in Klugson woods in Madicon New Jersey. She had 25 stab wounds and a handkerchief tied around her neck. A blond haired boy seen near the scene remains a possible clue as searchers traced her path from school.
Washington Oct. Sweeping amendments advanced by Progressives and backed by the president aim to alter a tax bill. Key changes include raising the surtax cap, repealing freight and passenger charges taxes, removing the $2,000 corporate exemption, retaining a capital stock tax, repealing nuisance taxes on soft drinks and medicines, and lifting estate tax maximums to 40 percent.
Clement J. Richards of Terre Haute recorded the transfer of coal rights on about 1800 acres near Somerville to General Fuel Corporation. The plan includes issuing bonds of half a million dollars to develop a large southern Indiana mine along land now held by the E. J. railroad line recently acquired by the Big Four Railroad. The development is expected next year.
Six hundred general chairmen of the railroads will meet in Chicago to discuss calling a strike of railroad workers. L B Sheppard of the ORC says proposals for the October 14 talks with 150 executives will be mapped, but a strike is considered remote as wage cut issues from July 1 are involved.
Mrs F M White and her daughter Helen traveled to Mt Carmel today to be with Mrs White's mother Mrs T M Mantle who is seriously ill.
Local seed dealers are alerted that the new pure seed law is in effect. Labels must show the seed name and variety, whether unknown, purity percentage, germination rate with testing date, weed content per pound, origin, and vendor details. Exceptions include seeds for manufacturing, cleaning, feeding, or producer delivery. mixtures must list each component over 5 percent with testing date. The law defines agricultural seed and lists common crops and noxious weeds for compliance.
Good Roads Boosters from southern Indiana counties meet in Evansville and approve a new Wonderland Trail route of the Atlantic Pacific highway. The branch will leave the main highway at Evansville, run south to Ft Branch, then to New Harmony via Owensville and Poseyville, with an Easterly leg toward Cynthiana. The Evansville to New Harmony segment will pass through Newburg Yankeetown Rockport and Grandview following the Ohio River.
Officials of the Evansville Water Company displayed a machine that taps a water main without shutting off service. A four inch tap was made on North Seminary Street in Princeton, showing the main line could be tapped and plugged while water flow continued. The test indicated the long pipe, laid years ago, remained sound with no deterioration visible.
Princeton Advertising club members attending the Wabash Valley association meeting in Spencer Indiana report enthusiastic reception from Spencer merchants. A full day of entertainment included a planned program. attendees from across the association’s territory gathered for a visit to a blooming floral display and souvenir gifts were handed out.
A large crowd gathered at the Lowell school grounds Thursday afternoon to watch Girl Scouts drill under Mrs. E H Priess and Lieutenant Joe Vollmer. Parents praised the troop's military tactics and a $45 gold purse was presented to Mrs Priess for her training work, a surprise to her.
Roseburg Oregon October 7 The Brumfield murder case for dentist and former Indiana school teacher Dennis Russell proceeded with no immediate jury completion. Three jurors were excused as a special 50 person panel was summoned, and Brumfield sat with his wife appearing largely disinterested as proceedings continued.
