Mayor C A Shubart issued a call for the Prince street bond selling committees to meet at the city building tonight at 7 30 o'clock. All residents property owners and citizens interested in the improvement of Prince street are invited to attend the meeting.
The Woman's Home Missionary Society of Gibson Street Memorial church will meet at Mrs. John Conrad's home, 725 South Gibson street, Friday at 2 30 PM. The Good Fellowship class will meet tonight at the church. all members are asked to attend. Friends and relatives gathered at Mr. and Mrs. James Dye's home Sunday for Mr. Dye's fiftieth birthday with a large list of attendees.
Brooklyn wins 2 to 1 over Cleveland in a tense World Series game three. Olson, Wheat, Meyers, and Kilduff contributed key hits as Mails and Wamby stymied the Indians. Game four is slated for Cleveland on Saturday with time differences noted.
Clifford Bailey's car left the road one mile east of the city injuring and killing several occupants. Mrs. Mary Ireland, 40, died instantly when her head struck a telephone pole. Elmer Bailey, 4, died at Methodist hospital later. Other passengers, including Clifford Bailey and his wife, escaped serious injuries but suffered bruises and nerves were shaken. Funeral plans for Elmer Bailey are set for Saturday. Mrs Ireland's services expected Sunday.
A retrospective notes that James Whitcomb Riley was born in a log cabin near Greenfield Indiana on or about 1847 with frontier life shaping his early years. The piece recalls his rise to fame and the affection of readers who called him the people's poet and mourned his passing four years ago last July.
The census bureau announced the 14th census figures showing the U S population at 105,683,108 a gain of 13,710,842 since 1910. The rise, while substantial, fell slightly below earlier estimates.

Registrations approach 100 percent as Democrats credit strong organization and volun tary participation. Thomas Taggart notes enthusiasm across districts and mixed Republican support for Cox over the League of Nations. Chairman Bosse expresses optimism and notes labor units backing the party.
The state food and fuel commission orders immediate price cuts in Indiana coal with mine run prices ranging from 3.00 to 3.85 per ton for different groups. Retail and freight charges add to mine prices, setting final consumer costs. Local dealer estimates lump coal at about 8 dollars per ton in Princeton.
In Taylorville on October 7 Charles William Munson of Assumption secured a marriage license for Miss Laura N. Askins. When asked for the fee of two dollars and a quarter he produced 125 pennies, which were accepted without debate.
