Mayor Shubart and the council urge residents to prepare for the largest cleanup in Princeton’s history. Trusts hauled by city wagons will collect rubbish piled for easy loading but not on streets. Memorial Day delays start until Tuesday with wagon work beginning Wednesday.
The Lake County bank in Lake Indiana Spencer County was robbed Thursday night of 85 in cash liberty bonds and other securities estimated at 50000. Burglars entered through a rear window and burned through vault floors with an acetylene torch. Cashier L C Ferguson found the break at 7 15 a m and said losses would be finalized after depositor records are checked.
At a Civic club meeting in the library mayor in attendance, F J Biggs chaired a committee to produce stimulus materials for the clean up drive. Cards posters and window trims were purchased for 30 dollars and distributed by city boy scouts to promote making Princeton cleaner and healthier. Merchants and businessmen are expected to donate to a small fund.

Federal Judge A B Anderson in Indianapolis orders the cancellation of Paul Glazer’s citizenship papers, saying they were obtained by fraud and that he showed unappreciation for the country. Glazer, a Gary attorney, faces appeal to the supreme court.
A $200 theft from Joe Adcock’s bedroom on South Seminary Street sparked police attention as two strangers sold furs in town the day before. Adcock had withdrawn $100 for checks and cash, and the couple counted the money in their sleeping room. Other prowlers were reported at several South Gibson Street homes, prompting wider police patrols after Wednesday night’s incidents.
The school honors seniors with diploma ceremonies featuring the Pielotbodti Orchestra and Rev Halstead Benediction. Names of graduates include Ballard, Bruce, Brumfield, Camthers, Cockriel, Graetz, Harter, Jopling, Kerr, Laib, Lamb, Mauck, Mayhugh, Milburn, Morgan, Morton, Noble, Panchaud, Ryan, Shafer, Shewmakerie, Skelton, Stormont, Swan, Taylor, Watson, Yochum, and Williams. The Gibson Street Memorial church tag drive starts Saturday morning and continues Sunday and Monday to raise funds for the new church. The drive was postponed to avoid conflicting with American Day and will feature city canvassing and booths on the public square. Younger Sunday school children sell postcard pictures of the old church and the planned new church.
The Princeton Post of the American Legion celebrates surpassing 100 members with fourteen new enrollments at a Thursday smoker in the city building. They select Clifford Lockhart and A. L. Fisher as delegates to the Vincesnnes state convention June 28 29, with Norman Hart and R. S. Tichenor as alternates. The post aims to continue the membership drive and locate permanent headquarters. A chaplain Horace Hitch is named, and committees to arrange Decoration Day and firing squads are formed as rifles from Urbana arsenal are expected for ceremonial use and post ownership.
Patoka manager J. E. Turpin backs a proposed county league to secure more home games and ease scheduling. He seeks input from Oakland City’s Curtis Butler while Southside’s A. L. Fisher agrees the plan could keep baseball alive. Joe Adcock of Southside helps promote the idea.
Memorial Day services will be observed Monday May 31 under Grand Army auspices with the Spanish American and World War groups. A Sunday service at 3:00 pm at United Presbyterian Church will feature Rev. Dr. Watson. Delegations assemble 2:30 pm Sunday at Grand Army headquarters. Monday activities include cemetery visits, parade formation led by James Kilmartin, and a later memorial service at the United Presbyterian Church with Rev. C E Smith, music by Mrs. Irene Coolidge, and Gettysburg address readings.
The Democrat announces all ads and news must reach the office by 8 a.m. Monday. Buyers and sellers of second hand articles are invited to place ads in the Democrat Classified column.
A second team organization will face an Owensville-caliber club from Owensville at the coal mine park on Sunday morning.
