Hazleton Bridge Project Under Way by Stein Construction
Work has begun on the Hazleton state highway bridge with Stein Construction of Milwaukee as general contractor. Over 50 workers are employed, with plans to grow to 500, aiming to finish earlier than contract terms. Excavations for three piers proceed, tool sheds rise, and river levees and a new road will be sublet and started soon. Charles G. Moore leads site operations.

Former Trustee Proposes New High School Plan
CG S Scull former school board member urged Kiwanis at Kidd hotel to build a new high school and transfer the present building to the grades. He warned the north side gym plan could erase the playground for younger children and argued a modern, expanded building with a gym could cost less overall. Deputy Sheriff Virgil Compton traveled from Vincennes to face trial here for three fugitives Jacob Baker and H Fried man charged with grand larceny and Clin ton Hinterleiter wanted on perjury. Baker and Friedman allegedly stole rope and supplies from an oil rig and sold them in Vincennes. Hinterleiter’s arrest stems from testimony in the Hornaday case with new evidence cited. Braner denies remark. All three were arrested in Vincennes last night on tips from local officers.

Arrives Home From Philippines After Eleven Years Teaching
Charles D. Paul, a teacher in the Philippine Islands for eleven years, has returned to his Francisco home arriving Monday. He has previously visited home once five years ago, last came in May, and returned in October. This trip began with a Seattle landing on May 9 and went via St. Louis. He plans to stay in the United States, though he enjoyed the Philippines. He is the brother of James Paul, who works at Alba Riggs grocery in town.

Falling Cable Kills Oil Rig Tool Dresser in Ohio
William Johnson aged 30 of Oatsville, tool dresser for Noble Bolyard Oil Co, was instantly killed at 7:30 this morning when a heavy steel cable fell from the derrick and struck him, crushing his skull. Coroner Kinman of Pike County conducted the examination. Johnson is survived by a wife and other relatives.

Hearing on discontinuing central heating plant service
Carl Wilde of the public service commission led a Princeton Light and Power hearing on curtailment of the central hot water heating plant. The company urged either total abandonment or discontinuance of 3 inch mains, arguing 4 inch mains would handle more water. Abandoning 3 inch mains would cut service to blocks on north and south Main and West State streets, at an estimated cost of about 10,000 dollars. City officials and patrons opposed street demolition for rebuilds. city suggested not a total shutdown to avoid numerous private heating installations. Wilde will present the matter to the public service commission in Indianapolis for a final order.

Man arraigned on tire theft charges in Southern case
