Royal Scottish Highlander Band to Play Sunday Concert
Weather permitting the Royal Scottish Highlander band will give a concert at 4 pm Sunday on the south side of the courthouse. Proceeds go to the Elks charity fund, with 25 cent tags sold and no admission charge. The band will escort G A R and returned soldiers from the G A R hall to the First M E church for the memorial service. Chairs will be provided for elderly attendees.

Daniel O'Neal of Somerville died aged 80 years, 6 months, 27 days after a long life as a retired farmer. He married Vashti Pearson in 1860. she died months ago. Twelve children were born, seven survive: William, John, George, Clinton, Commodore of Somerville. Mrs. Frank Stevenson of Valiant Oklahoma. Mrs. Fred Skemp of Somerville. Burning Old Bay steamer sparks rescue at Norfolk Harbor
In Norfolk Virginia on May 24 a Chesapeake liner and other vessels raced to a burning Old Bay steamer en route from Norfolk to Baltimore. Survivors were picked up by multiple ships after a 1:30 a m SOS. About 2400 passengers were imperiled as fire swept the vessel and many leaped into the water. Some passengers and several likely injured were reported missing.
