The eighty second annual state meeting of Christian churches in Vincennes ends with a new state constitution to integrate with the national United Christian missionary society. Mrs. J D Case presides briefly as the Christian women board of mission approves measures. Indiana aims for 1040 world call subscribers. current total about six thousand. The convention backs broader unification of missionary educational and benevolent societies to gain efficiency and fellowship.
Miss Inez Richardson and Miss Stella Harman demonstrate a headless home sewing dress form at the Walnut Grove Home Economics Club. Ida White models the form with an under vest and gum paper layers costing about 1.35 dollars. Harman plans more county demonstrations through May and June for interested women groups.
Miss Inez Richardson Purdue Assistant State Leader in Home Economies spends Friday with Miss Stella Harman Gibson County Demonstration Agent. Harman dedicates most time to county women while Richardson assists. Doris Stevens of Francisco visited the city today.
United Press dispatches claim Carranza was deposed and killed during an attack led by a former Carranzist commander near Vera Cruz. Reports say six party members died with him while others fled, with confusion over whether the death was an assassination or battlefield result.
Hiram Johnson takes the lead over General Wood in Oregon primaries with 8408 votes to 6928 in incomplete county returns from 22 of 36 counties including Portland. Lowden has 4061 and Hoover 2049. William G. McAdoo faces no opposition for the Democratic endorsement.
Agents of the attorney general filed affidavits against Vincennes Milk and Ice Cream Company with operations in Gibson and Knox counties. Defendants John A. Risch Anthony M. Risch William V. Beach J R Ballinger A W Kaericher T T Thorne and Jessie Brown of Princeton Vincennes and nearby towns were arraigned in Gibson Circuit Court and each bonded at 500 for the September term opening.
All Rebekah members are urged to attend the Hazleton county session on Wednesday May 26 with a 2 PM business meeting and 7 30 PM degree work. In Indianapolis on May 22 Mrs. Dr. Madge Patton Stevens of Terre Haute opened the Indiana state convention and moved E. S. Whitner of Indiana Harper as chairman. The motion carried with about 50 delegates present. They will nominate the state ticket tomorrow.
Harold Wheeler of San Francisco will nominate Senator Hiram Johnson for the Republican presidential race at Johnson headquarters New York. Seconding speeches will be delivered by Senator Borah and James O Neal of Detroit.
Brownstown Indiana May 22 A toy balloon launched by a large merchantile firm from Oskaloosa Iowa was found near Brownstown by eleven year old Gladys Anthony the same day. The firm confirmed the balloon was part of several hundred sent aloft for its fiftieth anniversary. It traveled about 400 miles in the daylight hours, averaging roughly sixty six miles per hour. The balloon descended intact in a garden near the Anthony home. The firm sent the girl a cake slice from a 270 pound cake baked for the anniversary with twenty five dozen eggs.
Railroad employees in Chicago oppose E. T. Whiter’s sliding scale proposal for the U S railroad board arguing the same work should earn the same pay in all cities. They plan to fight the plan which would set different wage differentials for small and large cities.
Attorney General Palmer directs agents to enter the field as price cutting spreads nationwide. He aims to mobilize the department to prevent a predicted rebound as reports show fresh reductions up to 10 percent in some areas, following an average 20 percent drop yesterday.

A Pennsylvania train derailed nine miles north of Hamilton early today injuring three people when three cars left the rails near Grand Rapids. Local authorities investigated the wreck and the line was cleared after removal of the derailed cars.
President Wilson refused to recognize Huerta with blood on his hands as reports claim Villa captured Capt. George Miller, a British subject, and was holding him for ransom. Mrs. Alva Fisher returned home Friday after attending the Rebeka.
The circuit court granted a divorce to Alfred Jordon as plaintiff and Elizabeth as defendant. The elderly couple from Wa bash township separated. In another matter Mrs Lucy George of Patoka was granted permission to adopt Irene McPherson, a ten year old girl, after evidence presented.
Dr Logan Esarey of Indiana University will address the Southwestern Indiana Historical Society at its quarterly meeting. Reports from each county vice president will be presented. John E Iglehart of Evansville is president and Mrs Susan M Garwin is secretary.

Church urged to bring flowers to church by 1:00 PM Monday. A flower request was also issued for an entertainment supporting the Italian Mission in Chicago. Miss Louise Ferguson of Terre Haute visits Miss Audie Steel for the weekend.
Dr. J. M. Williams and family of Owensville visited the city on Saturday for business as reports circulated that Wilson was composing a veto message to Congress regarding the Knox peace resolution.
