Mrs Susan Wobbler of Owensville Tud died at her home today. She is survived by her husband Joe Wobbler. Funeral services will be held at the home on Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Fidel Schoultz. Burial will follow in the O T F cemetery.
Nora Ruth Mauck, daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Mauck, died today. Interment will be in Mauck cemetery Wednesday afternoon with brief services at the grave.
May 10 report from Washington states Seewar one of two veteran army pigeons released May 5 went missing. A New Jersey farmer found it near Wilainfield and brought it to Camp Alfred Vail exhausted. The bird’s old war wound reopened, likely from fatigue, and the farmer nursed it back to health. He will claim a 25 dollar reward for Seewar's return, while Ryeeckarime remains missing.
Benjamin Bosse mayor of Evansville was re elected state chairman of the Democratic party at Indianapolis. A. C. Sallee was named first vice chairman and F. A. Balzer second vice chairman. The women organization was reelected and plans for the convention and campaign were discussed as delegates and visitors arrived. Vice President Thomas R. Marshall will speak tomorrow with Claude G. Bowers also addressing state issues. Four delegates at large to the national convention will be selected.
United Press reports broad price cuts on clothing and other merchandise nationwide as merchants slash 20 to 50 percent. Slow spring demand, tight credit, and rail strike disruptions drive unloading of inventory while food markets show no change. New York papers fill with sales as Cleveland and Detroit lag.
Houston May 19 reports say President Carranza has been captured by revolutionists per unconfirmed radio advices received by the Oil Weekly. Gen Obregon sent passports to Carranza and ordered his immediate departure from the country. The radiogram cited a usually reliable source.
Washington and Chicago report that the Federal Reserve Board and banks begin conferences to curb inflation and limit nonessential credit. Officials say actions may include discount-rate moves and credit distribution steps to restore safer economic conditions and restrain spending.
Democratic leaders from across Indiana gather in Indianapolis to reorganize the state committee and prepare for the fall campaign against Republicans. Delegates from 13 districts will caucus to choose national convention delegates as the platform committee considers a wet plank and a resolution denouncing the pardon board and state tax legislation.
Maj. Gen. Leonard Wood led the Republican presidential preferential primary in the state with incomplete returns. Senator Johnson and Herbert Hoover ran neck and neck for second place in Montpellier on May 19.
The May 18 weather shows a high of 74 and a low of 50 with clear skies. Virginia Martin of Oakland City visited local friends today.
Washington May 19 The public protests high prices and a clear downward trend in commodities across the country. Shoppers delay summer purchases, merchants hold large stocks, and price reductions are reported nationwide as Senator Kenyon says this shows consumers won’t pay exorbitant prices.
Charles A. Greathouse former state superintendent and Posey county educator will deliver the principal address for the good roads and ship by truck movement. The program includes 1000 feet of motion pictures on road conditions. The Princeton delegation travels by truck and auto to meet the caravan with a band concert planned in Gwensville Ft. Branch stops en route. Trucks will park east of the public square and a second visit to Oakland City is slated for Thursday morning.
After 5 pm no automobiles may park on the east side of the public square and trucks will block the street center once they arrive. The order comes from Chief of Police Guthrie. Mayor C A Shubart asks businesses to keep window lights on to illuminate the square for speeches truck shows and band concert.
Patoka Indiana May 19 Rush Watson and wife observed their Golden Wedding anniversary at home with a family dinner. Relatives from out of town attended. Esther Kister departed for Healdton Oklahoma to visit Aunt Mrs Arthur Walker for the summer. Mrs C W Fisher, visiting daughter Mrs John Kohlmeyer near Francisco, returned home.
George Lindenmaier of Baldwin Heights known as Kid Meyers will face Leo Witt of St. Louis after accepting Witt’s challenge for a lightweight bout in Illinois. Meyers, ringside at East St. Louis, has sparred with Bert Adams who pursued a rematch. Adams once lost to Meyers on points. Crowd at the event neared 1200, signaling Meyers’ rising profile in boxing circles.

Mrs Nancy Shoultz returned to her Oakland City home after several days as a guest of her daughter Mrs Agnes Haskins in Mekaw Summit.
In New York on May 19 Guy Nichols of Danville Illinois testified in a Brooklyn Supreme Court murder trial describing the killing of Samuel Waleolk. He said Jesse Walker of Evansville Indiana is sentenced to death and Joe Ault awaits trial. Nichols claimed Walker fired the final shot and showed $426 from the cash register. He added he did not want the bloodied money and planned to quit the life of crime afterward. The jury may hear closing arguments today.
C. H. Dear, formerly of this city and a well known Southern railroad brakeman, dropped dead on the Lincoln City station platform Saturday. He had worked later in Evansville on the Evansville and French Lick branch and had been in poor health since his wife’s death five years ago. He is survived by one son, Charles, of Evansville.
