An American sea plane missing since Saturday near Punta Delgada is pursued by a hawker pilot. The daring attempt to complete a nonstop flight of Atlanta faces uncertainty as investigators evaluate the vessel and route.
Bulletin from London reports no news on aviator Hawker with rumors of long-range flight. Washington dispatch adds NC-3 seaplane sighting at 12 10 p m Washington time seven miles from Punta Del Gada. status unclear as to air or sea.
Washington may 19. The transatlantic flyer NC 4 will continue her trip according to Navy Department advices issued today.
Australian pilot Harry Hawker and navigator Commander MacKenzie Greves launched eastward from St Johns Newfoundland at 1 50 p m on a bid to reach Europe before American planes. After six weeks of waiting for favorable weather they seized an eleventh hour window despite poor conditions to outrun rivals.
In St Johns Newfoundland on May 19 the Martinsyde plane involved in a trans Atlantic attempt crashed while trying to take off after a Sopwith. The aircraft is practically wrecked and the two pilots escaped with only slight injuries.

Russell Hill, a well known local youth, was seriously cut on the left leg and given minor injuries after a fight with Walt er Hicks at the fairgrounds. Hicks fled, later arrested, and Hill received hospital care with his condition described as serious. No charges filed yet while injuries are evaluated.
In Petersburg Indiana May 1 the Patoka river dredge case began in the Pike Circuit court with Judge G H Ward of Winchester appointed to try the matter. Over 5 000 people are interested and about 600 oppose the project which would cost around 800 000 dollars. The proposed ditch would be 60 feet wide at the top and ten feet at the base to relieve floodwaters from the Patoka river.
Lincoln High School won a sweeping victory over Mt Vernon Vincennes and Evansville high schools at the fair ground with large regional attendance. Lincoln won most field events led by Pritchett and Jones, while Mt Vernon took the broad jump. A girls ball game ended 17 to 1 in favor of Lincoln and a later baseball score 5 to 4.
Fred C. Leucking returned home Sunday evening from Camp Sherman Ohio where he received his discharge from overseas service.
The 66th Congress convened in Washington with Vice President Marshall and Clerk South Trimble presiding as Republicans hold power for the first time in eight years. The opening featured prayers, party displays, and early clashes over war era policies, the League of Nations and measures to control prohibition, suffrage, and transport.
A Princeton women's organization nears completion of a city Clean Up drive with a mass meeting set for Tuesday at 8 pm in the large Courtroom. A State Fire Marshal representative will address sanitation and fire prevention. The campaign promotes tidier backyards basements and fronts, removal of lumber and tin cans, and planting flowers along key city routes to reflect inner cleanliness.

A list of contributions $5+ will be published starting today, with many local supporters naming Democ rat, Clarion News, and individuals like Funk Riggs Spilman and Lightner among contributors.
