The NC-4 flying boat completed the first long leg of a 1200 mile flight from Newfoundland to the Azores at 800 miles per hour. The vessel named Jinx led the exploit as the fastest leg of the journey was completed successfully.
Berne reports German press attacks President Wilson over harsh peace terms. Officials in Berlin brace for counter proposals and protests as May 22 deadline looms. Dialogue cites fears of deception, calls for treaty modification, and refusal to sign unless changes occur.

Corp. Virgil Schleter, son of Mrs Emma Schleter, arrived home this morning with his discharge after about eight months overseas. He was among the first from the county to be discharged in September.
The First Methodist Sunday school will observe Fathers Day on Sunday May 18. Opening exercises at 9 15 A M upstairs will precede care for fathers by the Men's Bible Class. Claude A Smith will give a prepared talk and attendance aims to reach over 450 with a welcome address by Mrs John C Bingham and chorus from the entire school.
An official report to County Sales Manager Rollin Maxam from John Bilderback shows Oaklind City and Columbia township met their liberty loan quota of 50 000 with a 1 250 surplus. Columbia township organized a pool led by an executive committee including George C. Mason and Alvin Wilson, and a women’s division chaired by Mrs Will D Ingle.
Lincoln school hosts a quadrangular meet at the fair grounds with Evansville Mt Vernon Vincennes and Princeton among participants. A baseball game Mt Vernon versus Lincoln follows field events with an oratorical contest tonight and a May 23 commencement in Princeton High School.

Secretary Daniels said the navy began preparing for a trans Atlantic flight two years earlier. Initially one plane was planned, later increased to three to boost success chances. The Princeton baseball club plays its first home game of the season tomorrow at the new park against Winslow. Notable players Hg Weitaal and Fred Roush are in the lineup, with the park completed and ready for an 8 o clock opening game.
Edgar Collins eight months old, son of Mr and Mrs William Collins, died at 409 North Third Street Friday morning. The funeral was held this afternoon with interment in the cemetery.
