Hot Springs Ark May 16 volunteers clear ruined streets after a flood and fire. The engineering department estimates property losses around two million dollars with little flood insurance coverage. National Guard patrols the steom swept city to guard property.
Henderson Kentucky May 16 the commonwealth will not seek the death penalty in the case of Mrs Lurile Noffsinger charged as an accessory before the fact in the December murder of her husband Gus Noffsinger manager of Southland Coal Company Gibbons who confessed to the hammer killing will testify and is serving a life sentence The case proceeds without jury opposition to capital punishment aiming for rapid selection from a special venue list Mrs Noffsinger remains under bond with her sister on South Clay Street
In Tallahassee on May 16 County Judge Bo FL Willis of Leon County was ordered removed by the senate on malfeasance and drunkenness in office. The action follows Gov Hardee’s resolution tied to the Martin Tabert case and mirrors prior removal of Sheriff J R Jones on similar charges. The senate also reconfirmed passage of a bill banning corporal punishment of convicts, sending it to the governor.
The Ft Branch Music Club will meet Thursday at 2 PM in the High School auditorium. The open meeting will feature an address by Mrs. G B Franklin dean of Evansville College. The event aims to engage the public with a program of social and community interest.
George J. Gould died at 3 30 am in a southern France villa. The 69 year old American capitalist had pneumonia and was survived by his wife Alice Sinclair whom he secretly wed last July. He was eldest son among Jay Gould heirs involved in a large estate dispute.
John Chance, 25, son of hotel proprietor J. Chance, was shot in the upper right leg by a cartridge from a two caliber revolver. He claimed accidental self infliction while alighting from a moving freight train near his father's West Broadway hotel. He was operated on at Methodist Hospital and is recovering without serious injury.

Levi G Wilgus veteran Civil War and former justice of the peace died Sunday and funeral was held Tuesday at his Oakland City residence conducted by Rev G M Haas. Burial followed in Princeton Odd Fellows cemetery. Survived by widow and seven children: Finis Crawford Mrs Crawford Elkhart N T Benjamin Chicago John Wilgus Pittsburgh Charles Wilgus Morganport Heber Wilgus Eldorado Hobart Wilgus Terre Haute. Deceased was formerly a Princeton resident with many old friends.
Chicago May 16 Every effort is made to shield details of a suit between two British peeresses in the Leiter family over the 100 000 000 Levi Leiter estate. Lady Hyde and Lady Cynthia Mosely accuse Joseph Leiter of mismanagement and seek an accounting. The case involves claims tied to the late Levi Leiter pioneer Chicago merchant and includes Nancy Carver Campbell of Santa Barbara as a named party. Lady Cynthia, daughter of Lord Curzon and the late Lady Mary Victoria Lester Curzon, resides in Washington and is said to wield influence with her uncle over the estate and her mother’s share as sole heir.

Ft Branch May 14 The General Baptist church celebrated its founding in connection with Mothers Day. IL M On yett recounted the church’s history to the present. Deceased pioneer members were honored with pictures. Dr W P Dearing of Oakland City College gave a striking address on Motherwood to a large crowd.
The First M. E. Church invites all to attend basketball supper options then lectures at 7 15 and 7 45. Prof Derbyshire will give a lecture at 7 45 with subject undetermined by the Publicity department, but attendees are assured value from حضور.
Gibson county farmer John Utley about 40, of Center township near Princeton, lost his right arm when a sleeve caught on a belt of a feed grinding machine driven by gasoline. His son pulled him clear just before further injuries. He was taken to Methodist hospital where the arm was amputated below the elbow.
The Gilson county Baby Conferences start Friday at the high school with morning sessions and health lectures by Ada Schweitzer in the evening. Aimed at children from one month to six years, the programs emphasize well children and mother guidance. Local Parent-Teacher Associations assist, with additional county dates listed through June in various towns and schools.

Bud Staser 88 of Bud Branch fell down cellar steps at Barnett Drug Store in Evansville while visiting relatives. He suffered several broken ribs and injuries to his hip and back. He was moved by ambulance to his daughter’s home in this place and remains in serious condition. Staser is a longtime area resident and founder of Staser Park and Staser Station near the county line.
Petersburg May 16 The affairs of the defunct Muren Coal Company are being threshed out in the Pike County circuit court this week. The court has approved the final report of Receiver George A. Hurst cashier of the Winslow Bank and J. Wasson who paid 10700 in cash for the property.
Morganfield Ky May 16 Sheriff A W Clements and deputies spent two weeks rounding up unlicensed dogs. A pen holding forty one dogs at a livery stable was set for the death penalty this week but the animals were released last night causing extra work to recapture them.
Gibson County Coliseum Board unanimously named J W Gaddis of Vincennes as architect for the memorial coliseum honoring local veterans. Site purchase totals 84767 with sixty day sale ads to salvage the existing buildings west of the Evansville Princeton traction line. A spacious auditorium is planned to meet long held county needs plus future uses, with final project details to follow between the board and county officials.
Reports from Pekin and Shanghai dated May 16 describe captives moved to a distant mountain camp 25 miles from the railroad.
