A severe Texas storm caused extensive damage in a Colorado town leaving nineteen dead and numerous injuries. Relief crews worked overnight to secure the community and assist affected residents.
A cyclone devastated Colorado Texas with 19 known deaths and 68 seriously injured including many children. The storm forced churches to serve as hospitals as the town spent a night of horror. Fifty one severely injured are cared for at the Baptist church with about ten expected to die.
The jury found in favor of plaintiff Dr J N Cunningham against Roy T Cunningham for 2442.88 for money advanced after their father’s death and related matters. The suit did not settle the property rights and each party’s interest remains intact.
Chicago May 15 Evidence from a three day secret probe into the death of Northwestern University freshman Leighton Mount strengthens the theory that he killed himself. The state’s attorney said investigators questioned close friends and advisors as Mount’s bones were found under a Lake Michigan pier. The 12 year old who found the skeleton said no rocks were piled atop it. Mount’s sweetheart said he told her he planned to kill himself during the class rush night.
John Riley died at his Owensboro residence on May 15 special report from Patoka Ind He was formerly a Watoka resident and a brother of William Riley and Mrs R E Stermer of Patoka The funeral will be held Wednesday in Owensboro Ky
The Gibson County Shipping Association with J. W. Adams Jr. managing sent 4 carloads of hogs to the Producers Commission Association on the Indianapolis market. The commission served over 35,000 patrons in its first year. Producers handled 224 carloads last week, with the next largest firm at 70 carloads. the bulk sold near the top of the market.
Princeton band association moves toward permanent incorporation after pledges exceed needed memberships. A by laws and constitution draft will be prepared, aiming for next Monday’s meeting to finalize the permanent organization and hire a director and reader. The group seeks a leader who can form a top-notch band and inspire junior bands among Princeton youths.
The high school musical department will present a concert Thursday in the school auditorium due to a delayed gym. The program features girls and boys glee clubs, the chorus, a double trio of girls, the orchestra, and humorous selections under Miss Carmain's direction. The annual departmental program follows on Monday May 21. Chorus comprises 230 voices.
In St Joseph Michigan on May 15 Esther Widders testifies before Judge Dingeman about King Benjamin Purnell of the House of David. Levina Heigner alleges a prior attack by the king in a pantry and says Esther has critical information for authorities.
Harding Reads of Merchants National Bank leaves a $250000 estate to Depauw University and the Methodist Episcopal Hospital and Deaconess Home in Indianapolis. Depauw to get $17000 and the Indianapolis hospital group $5000 in the terms of his will dated last week.
New York May 15 Charles M Schwab, the Wittsburg steel magnate, claims he was swindled by a Boston woman who forged his signature on notes totaling 325,000. The case echoes Cassie Chadwick’s exploits against Andrew Carnegie, where forged deeds of trust yielded about 2,000,000. Prosecutors pursue Hayes' alleged forgery of a Pittsburg bank letter. The swindler’s skill aroused skepticism of Schwab and other bankers.
In Muncie Indiana on May 15 veterans of '61 gathered for the annual grand army state encampment. State Commander Kelsey and staff arrived from Fort Wayne as Evansville Bluffton delegations joined the parade. Hotels fill and homes open to guests as the event proceeds through Thursday.

Reports from Hot Springs Ark describe a cloudburst tornado and fire that struck the town last night. Officials estimate about 1.5 million dollars in damage with multiple casualties, including 17 children, as floodwaters wrecked Main Boulevards and a furniture plant fire spread through the business district.
Miss Ethel Beakler aged 28 died after swallowing carbolic acid at Shanks home 426 West Second Street Mt Carmel HL May 15. She had worked there a week and was formerly a housekeeper for Elmer Stoltz. Inquest showed despondency and jealousy over unrequited love as the cause.

In Stewartsville Indiana two boys Ralph Baker and Willie Dunlaw discovered a still hidden inside a hollow metal monument in Stewartsville cemetery. They noticed the loose top and reported the find to officials. The still was seized and no owner had claimed it.
The Washington township Community Club met on May 10 with sixteen members. Activities included music, a reading on Poultry and Baby Chicks, a discussion on Origin of Mothers Day, and a poultry contest won by Mrs. Serena Armstrong.
