Bed clothing saves family from Burrows fire
Logan Ort reports Arthur Emerick Breda Emerick and their daughter escaped a Burrows restaurant fire on Wednesday using a rope improvised from bed clothing. The two story frame building housed a restaurant on the first floor and living apartments above. The structure and contents were destroyed with partial insurance coverage. fire origin undetermined.

Alleged Chicken Thieves Sentenced in Circuit Court
Willard Walker, 19, and Fred Sanders, 24, tried in the circuit court on petit larceny were found guilty and sent to the State Reformatory at Jeffersonville for one to fourteen years. Colored school parade leads to colored track meet
Hundreds of locals and visiting children from colored schools of Southern Indiana marched through the public square Saturday afternoon headed to the fair ground for the colored track and field meet.
