Bright sun and across city flags mark American Day as residents prepare for an outdoor America pageant at Lowell School at 7 30 pm The three episode pageant America Yesterday and Today features The Spirit of Indian Days The Corn Dancer and related ceremonial scenes underscoring gratitude for harvest rain and sun and national pride
Pure blooded Bethren barnstorming Indians travel from Canada to northern New York for a six week tour. The lineup includes White Bird at center, Red Bear in right field, Long Tail at second, War Devil at short, Standing Bush at third, Pine Tree at pitcher, Red Deer at first, Red Eagle catching, Spotted Veilf as substitute catcher with Rivming Sky Some Feather Two Skies and Tinkle Bell among others.
May 1 The Comedie Francaise hosted a violent clash between cotton and silk factions after Cecile Sere appeared in a 150 gown and a Lion pearl. Society ladies, usually supportive, rose to protest what they called a mockery of the government deleuse import restriction.

The Gibson County Health Association will organize at First Presbyterian Church in Princeton on Friday May 7 at 2 40 P M. Dr G V Stouse chief of the Education Division of the Indiana State Board of Health will address delegates. All health organizations in Gibson County are urged to send delegates with Princeton groups receiving three delegates. Editors and public officials invited.

The Princeton area reports a high of 70 and a low of 61 with partly cloudy skies. Compared to last year on the same date the high was 65 and the low 53 with 1.06 inches of precipitation.
Washington May 1 The soldier relief bill was completed by Republican leaders in the House Ways and Means committee and discussed at a Republican conference. Plans call for immediate passage Monday. Five payment options for adjusted compensation include service pay, vocational training, home purchase, paid up insurance, and loans after two years.
Alexander Khodjayuan a former Russian official sues Blanche Khodjayan claiming marital strains after she flirted with a top dignitary at a Petrograd banquet and later teased him with stockings. The couple wed in London and later separated amid accusations of public embarrassment and humorous scandal.
Washington reports the National Geographic Society announced a July Worcester Massachusetts test of Prof. Herbert H. Goddard’s rocket designed to reach well above the earth’s atmosphere possibly the moon. Objectives include aurora study short wave solar absorption and weather data measurements for forecasting.
Washington May 1. Officials say a nationwide May Day radical demonstration is unlikely and violence would be sporadic. The Department of Justice warns local authorities to stay vigilant while allowing gatherings to proceed without incitement, as raids on Communist groups are reviewed.

Lawrence Wheeler of Princeton has been chosen as a Union director for the coming year at Indiana University. The Union oversees student activities and will partner with the university centennial celebration from May 30 to June 4 featuring a pageant on campus history. Chauncey Uingdon directs the pageant. alumni plan large homecomings and reunions during Centennial Week.
Indiana's birds are expanding into new habitats aided by state efforts. Frank G. Hasselman reports many insectivorous species are moving into bird and game sanctuaries created by the Conservation Commission. Bluebirds and martins occupy cottages and duplexes at Bluff Hills experiment farm.
The jury in the case of Mrs. Sarah I. Tabor, 80, Lawton, Mich., charged with manslaughter in the death of her daughter Maude Tabor Virgo, reported a disagreement and was discharged by Judge Howard West. The case goes to the next circuit term opening mid May, with a possible postponement to October.
In New York on May 1, 23 alleged extremists remain held for deportation at Ellis Island from a Jan raid by the Department of Justice. Hearings in all cases are not yet completed, according to Rose Weiss, counsel for many detainees.
