Virginia Ruth, the young daughter of Mr and Mrs J B Clark of 702 South Prince Street, has remained very ill after several days of sickness with no improvement reported.
Washington reports an American army officer says an 800000 strong mobile Allied force is ready to strike at Germany. The plan could involve up to 100000 American troops for a large maneuver against the Central Powers as Haig strengthens the British lines. John Laib of Evansville visited the city Thursday on business.
Cap Blake and F L Simms toured Gibson county delivering nine speeches over two days. They visited six Princeton area schools and Ft Branch, meeting teachers and students to boost War Saving and Thrift Stamp sales. The drive aims to keep funds flowing for the boys in France and related preparations.

Amsterdam reports that Field Marshal Hindenburg and Chancellor Hertling have decided to mobilize German nationals of military age found guilty as criminals. The announcement comes as authorities indicate a broad conscription policy to reinforce army ranks.
Field Marshal Haig reported ongoing heavy fighting along both banks of the Somme with repeated enemy attacks repulsed near Beaumont Hamel and Noyonville. Prisoners and machine guns were captured as bombardments intensified east of Arras and near Albert and Poyelles.

Five men for Purdue University technical training have been filed by volunteers with no induction date yet set for Pan F McConnell George W McCarty Raymond L Kolb A P Tywingham Jr Elmer L Smith.
Second Lieutenant Curtis A Bassford son of Mr and Mrs George W Bassford leaves from the 151st Indiana Infantry Camp Shelby to Fort Sill Oklahoma to receive aerial observer instruction.
District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler Alvin Padgett of Washington inspected the annual Princeton Lodge of Elks meeting on a Wednesday night. He commended the lodge for its year’s work and urged the order to support every war movement, with other officials including Meise of Vincennes and Ed Julian in attendance. Ben Wright, ex Ft Branch wireless operator, spoke on submarine warfare and demonstrated a gas mask issued in France.
Lieutenant John N. Hopkins of the 152nd Indiana Infantry at Camp Shelby Hattiesburg Mississippi has been made an instructor in the use of the Browning automatic rifle. Lieut Hopkins is a farmer resident of this city.
