George Yeager a well known resident of this vicinity died at 2 o clock Tuesday morning at his home 38 miles southeast of Owensville following a brief illness Cause of death erysipelas The funeral will be held at 2 30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at Clarks chapel and burial will be in the church cemetery He is survived by his widow two children Mrs David Hepler of Cynthiana Rudolph Yeager of Owensville a sister Mrs Roy Faugher of Owensville and two brothers Charles Yeager of Owensville
British and French forces retreat to the Oise and other lines while Noyon and surrounding towns evacuate. The German push creates a 30 mile wide salient from Peronne to LaFere, with heavy fighting near Noyon, Arras, Albert, and the Somme valley as Hindenburg presses units forward.

In New York dispatches from March 2 report Von Hindenburg's army failing to retake territory evacuated last March. They note 60 to 70 miles of front were briefly recovered but no decisive victory, with the British line still unbroken and German forces proving hesitant in renewed attacks.
The Manchester Guardian argues Britain endured a severe setback but can turn defeat into victory. It states the loss is not decisive, positions are not lost, and France remains saved for two years, urging calm and confidence regarding the future.
Berlin reports German tanks fought south of St Quentin and broke British machine gun nests. Berlin says losses were smaller than expected and mentions the Kaiser in St Quentin. Berlin was decorated with flags and bells rung as Catholics held a day of prayer.
A series of heavy blasts shook Jersey City this afternoon with shocks felt in Manhattan. Reports place the blasts near Jarvis warehouses and Erie Lackawanna piers on the waterfront. ammunition cars were said to be nearby and Jersey City communications failed. Debris and smoke crossed the Hudson as trains were halted and townsfolk circulated warnings.

The Public Service Commission ruled for the city of Princeton in the long running dispute with Princeton Light and Power Co. The decision upholds the new lighting system and unchanged rates, denies the company's requests for a rate increase, and calculates an excess earning of 1651.34 dollars to compensate for coal cost rises. The commission also questions the division of operating expenses between plants and outlines earning and revenue figures for 1917.
