The northwest branch has pledged 45000 for war orphans in Belgium France Italy and other war torn countries with part of tomorrow’s offering going to this cause. The public is invited.
A series of revival meetings starts Sunday March 24 at the First Baptist Church. A large chorus choir will lead singing and Rev. A A Cohn will preach. All who wish to attend will find a cordial welcome.
John W. Emerson aged 76 a Civil War veteran died Friday at the home of his daughter Mrs. Cora Pritchett in Cynthiana Indiana He is survived by two daughters Mrs Pritchett and Mrs Grace Turman and three sons Ralph Emerson Rollin Emerson and Hoyt Emerson Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 PM at Blythe Chapel with Rev Bennett and burial in the church cemetery
Members of First Baptist church held a cottage prayer meet ing Friday evening at the home of Mr and Mrs Thomas O'Neal 817 South Seminary Street A large attendance was present.
Miss Marie Dose Lauler, a 17 month German captivity survivor who carried an American flag to prove citizenship, will address Oakland City Sunday at 2 30 pm under the county defense council. She replaces Red Cross worker Mrs Idah Gibson and shares experiences in Belgium and camps.

Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Miller from Ev ansville visit the city as guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ritchie on West State Street.
