The criminal libel suit filed by Mrs. Samuel Morton’s lawyers against Rev. ML PL Rimuiner of the Church of God was dismissed this morning after attorneys petitioned. Prosecutors indicated the charge could not be sustained by the evidence.
Circuit Court heard a dissolution case this morning granting a divorce to Tredao Martin from Join Marti while also considering matters in a separate suit involving Janes Wo Carli momo Molina G and Helen Cockrun Wis.
The farewell service for Ensign and Captain AS A Selaware, originally set for Sunday evening, has been postponed to next Sunday. Sehnare has not yet received his dawn appointment.
The obituary notes the March passing of Mrs Martha Strain of Gibson County. She was closely linked to the Peargraves and Strains families, widow of Albert FL Strain, and mother of Nellie Jackson and Florence Strain. Survived by grandchildren and relatives including Col. Win. Cockrum’s lineage. Funeral 10:30 AM Monday at the family home, burial at Geuimg Cemetery Fort Branch, with eulogies praising her charitable life.
President Wilson returns from France with a plan tying the League of Nations pact to a preliminary Peace Treaty. The Senate must accept responsibility as the two documents become closely interwoven, making separation unlikely.
Paris March 22 United Press President Wilson plans a strong national campaign to win senate approval of the preliminary peace treaty with the league of nations. He may stump the country and demand acceptance or rejection by the senate. He weighs departmental finances with no decision, and may return by May 15.
Paris report says the League of Nations commission chaired by President Wilson will keep the covenant bound to the peace treaty. Reliable sources note the American senate must accept or reject the entire prelimin ary peace pact, separating covenant and treaty is deemed impossible under current framing.
Washington reports indicate President Wilson plans to return to the United States in early May with Congress reconvening to consider the peace treaty. Administrations officers expect the treaty ready for Senate by May 1 to 10, and a nationwide tour to rally support for the league of nations may follow the May session.
Indiana announces a statewide Victory Day planned for May to honor returned soldiers. An executive committee from all 92 counties will organize homecoming events centered on the 150th Field Artillery Rainbow Division, with plans discussed at Governor Goodrich's office and a request to muster out at Fort Harrison. The Rainbow Division is slated to embark April 19.
John F Bowman 59 died at the family home on the south side of town Thursday night at 10 30 after several weeks illness. He was a member of the Christian church and worked as a farmer early in life then as a coal miner for several years. Surviving are his widow and four children Ernest Bowman Mrs fidderbaugh of this city Riley and Samuel Bowman of Omaha Nebraska. Funeral services will be held at the church.
The residence announces services Saturday afternoon at 12 for the deceased, to be conducted by Rev. Mart Bureh. Interment will follow in Montgomery Cemetery. Oakland City Journal.
Mrs. Mary McNeeley of Haubstadt Indiana died at her daughter Mrs Silas Redman home this morning aged 30. Death caused by infirmities of age. Surviving is daughter Mrs Redman and many friends. Funeral arrangements not announced.
Paris reports detailed military terms of a pending treaty that would cap Germany to 100000 troops with strict limits on officers and staff. Fortifications near the Rhine will be destroyed, naval strength limited, submarines forbidden, and all war material surrendered under Allied supervision.
Princeton music lovers await a rare concert next Friday at the First Methodist church with Gatty Sellars the celebrated British organist appearing in a limited city engagement. Organized by the church choir the program will suit general tastes and showcase the world renowned musician.
Lieut. Henry Kollmeyer accepts a position as history teacher at Evansville High School. The Ladies Aid of The First Baptist Church will host an Easter bake sale featuring cakes pies bread salads and fancy work at Mason and Burton Store on April 19.
