Terre Haute March 18 John Roper engineer of the Terre Haute brewery will likely turn state's evidence as Mayor Donn Roberts faces Friday trial for conspiracy to commit election fraud. Marx Myers Gerhardt Menninger and Roberts were named in the indictments with separate trials granted for Myers and the others.
Indiana delegates arrive as state convention begins. Thursday session to begin with prayers, Korbly to chair, Governor Ralston to speak, Kern to serve as permanent chair. Nominations for U S senator and various state officers will follow, with 1836 delegates and 918 votes needed for choice.
A large Gibson county contingent including delegates alternates and many visitors departed for Indianapolis by morning train Wednesday. Frank Robards Barnhill Bruce Theodore Miller D Howard and J C Gorman left Tuesday night aboard the Southern railroad.

In Indianapolis on March 18 Senator John W Kern arrived at noon to a greeting by Wilson Bryan League leaders including Albert J Venneman, chair of the executive committee, and former congressman John W Boehne. He planned to return to the Denison hotel for a press meeting within an hour.
Senator Kern receives letters from leaders urging adoption of a progressive measure. Recommending referendum, the campaign seeks to shape primary law policy under party and legislative pressures.
A. J. Venneman and John W. Boehne say they will attend the state convention by proxy after being denied county delegation seats. Boehne will fill Arch Stevenson of Spencer county’s seat while criticizing plans to submit the statewide primary to a popular vote via a state platform.
Indianapolis March 18 A committee meeting practically decided that the platform will include a plank favoring statewide primaries for all nominations except state nominating events. The plan would keep the state convention system for nominations while electing delegates at state primaries under state law safeguards. Senator Kern declined to commit on a constitutional convention plank.
Rev Thomas W. White of Bloomington will occupy the pulpit of the First Presbyterian Church Wednesday evening for the regular weekly lecture. White is well known in Princeton and has spoken here several times, drawing favorable opinions.
Frank Gambrel, afflicted with smallpox in the city pest house, is reported to be improving with only a light attack. His physician notes he is supplied with provisions and expected to recover soon as township Trustee Brasel confirms the outlook.
The New Pgs baseball association elected officers: Arvel Gibson president J H Guthrie secretary treasurer Roy Ki rectors Albert Leach O S Spillman A L Fisher Harve Mc Garrah. A season ticket plan at 5 dollars each was approved and the park project will start as weather allows. Directors now manage all association business and a meeting is set for Friday night to arrange ticket sales and uniforms.
Harding and Miller Music Co opens a north side display room at the square formerly C B Scull Furniture. A Spring Fashion Festival spot features pianos and a full line of musical instruments with daily concerts for a week and prize giveaways totaling 450 dollars.
Evansville attorney sues Hancock for forging his brother’s name to a check. Hancock, previously fined $100 for the same forgery, is ordered by Judge Azro Dyer to invest $1,200 in Kentucky oil ventures but allegedly used the funds to buy a farm near Oakland City. The suit seeks recovery and possession of the Gibson County farm.
Pittsburg March 18 probate reveals George Westinghouse estate valued around 35 million dollars. Widow receives forty percent of the entire estate and son George gets one third. The will confirms major bequests and the sizable total value of the fortune.
