Nome Alaska Mayor Lomen addresses the American Protective Association conference urging repeal of state venison laws. He says Alaska's 160000 reindeer could supply meat resembling beef if a third were slaughtered annually, easing the food situation nationwide.
Indianapolis March 5 Sergeant Maurice Murphy of the emergency squad was fatally wounded in a running gunfight with Henry Thomas alias Hell Cat. Thomas was mortally wounded by Lt Herbert Fletcher after fleeing for two blocks and dying in a yard near 629 West Floventh Street. The duel followed a citywide manhunt tied to burglary and grand larceny charges against Thomas.
In his first campaign speech Palmer argues for machinery to adjust industrial disputes before a strike. He says no compulsory arbitration is needed if the public is informed of disputes, declaring public opinion the ultimate arbiter in this country.
Gerald Brandon, longtime Los Angeles Times Mexico correspondent, was expelled as a pernicious foreigner. He was escorted from Mexico City by two officers to Nuevo Laredo and crossed the border under police escort. The Times’ managing editor Harry F. Survived by widow and three children Mrs G B Coleman Mrs Elisha Pharman of Marion Ind and William Spencer of Sanborn Ind.
Charles Dorsey died at his Poseyville home after a short illness lasting about a week. Tuberculosis was the cause. He was the son of Mr and Mrs James Dorsey formerly of Ft Branch now of Poseyville. Survived by widow one son and one daughter plus other relatives. Funeral at M B church Poseyville at 10380 o'clock Tuesday morning. Remains sent to Ft Branch for interment in Walnut Hill cemetery.
Mrs Pearl Walker daughter of Mr and Mrs Jesse Mcdllister born December 8 1885 died February 28 1920 at age 33 years 2 months 20 days She married Sanford Walker September 28 1907 and they had two children Hazel and Borothy Survived by husband two children and several relatives Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at her home by Rev A C Sissons Interment in family cemetery White River News
John Jackson died this morning at 3 00 at the home of Charles Gilbert 616 East Emmerson Street He was 70 years old He had been living with Gilbert for a year coming from Pittsburg Pennsylvania A funeral was set for 2 00 this afternoon at the Gilbert home with burial in Union Cemetery He had no relatives in this area

Virgil W. Compton is appointed deputy sheriff to fill the vacancy caused by Wertzel Null resignation due to poor health. Null was hospitalized after an appendectomy operation. The appointment was made by Fowler. Compton previously served on the city police force last summer.

Lawrence Mass March 5 Prices of food commodities and clothing have fallen due to the cooperative department store run by William M Wood for 16 000 workers at the American Woolen Company. The public cannot buy there but local merchants dropped prices to match. Men s suits drop from 50 to 60 dollars to 18 to 35. Women s suits fall from 85 to 25. Meat prices cut about half and fresh eggs cost 69 cents with 05 cents minimum in December.
