Liberty Loan Oversubscribed Across Regions

The Liberty Loan total at noon June 15 reached 2.0 billion dollars with New York district alone at 1.0 billion. Subscriptions across St Louis, Indiana, Chicago districts exceeded their quotas as crowds waited to subscribe, with McAdoo affirming oversubscription and urging orderly action.

Federal Reserve expects oversubscription of bond allotment

At 10 A.M. two hours before the Liberty bond sale closes officials of the federal reserve bank estimated the district minimum allotment of 166 million dollars would be oversubscribed.

Milwaukee Over subscribes over liberty bond quota

Milwaukee Wisconsin reports that the city will exceed its liberty bond quota. Officials announced subscriptions total about 3 500 000 toward the $14 000 000 target. Citizens met the drive with strong participation and enthusiasm.

Patoka Dedicates Mammoth Flag Pole

In Patoka Indiana on Flag Day a seventy one foot flag pole was dedicated in the town business district. Rev Elijah Arthur of Vincennes delivered the dedication address to patriotic citizens. School children drum corps and Civil War veterans marched with flags as Old Glory flew from the new pole funded by public subscription.

Irish prisoners named in Commons debate on Dublin riots

In the House of Commons today a list of Irish political prisoners was announced. The detainees are chiefly those arrested during the Dublin riots and associated Sinn Fein activity.

Red Cross War Fund Drive Urges Gibson County

Gibson County pledges to raise at least 10000 for the Red Cross War Fund and all citizens are urged to join. A countywide canvass is planned with a one dollar membership and mass meetings, sermons, and speeches scheduled in Hazelton Fort Branch Owensville Oakland City and Evansville. John G. Becker will speak. Dr E G Hildner leads the effort.

Judge Edward Jackson Delivers Patriotic Flag Day Address

Judge Edward Jackson secretary of state spoke at Princeton Flag Day services to an Elks crowd despite threatening weather. He urged devotion to the flag and global brotherhood, recalling Washington Lincoln and wartime sacrifice. The program featured music by Baltic orchestra and Elks chorus, with tributes to the flag and a final singing of America.

Redpath Chautauqua Aids Red Cross Fund in Gibson County

Princeton and Gibson County residents will soon enjoy a new Redpath chautauqua program that supports the Red Cross. Elks back the effort, pledges go toward the Red Cross fund, and net proceeds from ticket sales help both causes. Tickets are on sale at Brownlee's store and pledged buyers are urged to claim them.

Princeton Rifle Club Adopts Military Drill Plan

At a Wednesday meeting the Princeton Rifle Club voted to institute military drill for all eligible members in use of the service rifle and basic tactics. Lieut. R. S. Tichenor will command the drill company, drawn from the U S Army Officers Reserve Corps. The first drill is set for next Wednesday at the G A R hall with officers to be chosen by competitive examination.
