Two New Directors Named At Chamber Meeting

The Princeton Chamber of Commerce met in the Kidd Hotel dining room. Directors Miss C. A. Schubert and Jas. S. Herriot were elected to fill vacancies, replacing resignations. By-Laws amendments were adopted, shifting duties to the Finance Division and outlining official vacancies. A Princeton Chamber of Commerce Day at the Fort Branch Chautauqua was set for Elks to arrange. Sanction was given to Lamb & Miller to advertise the Fish Chain event. The German patent office news noted, and Secretary Bryan resigned, accepted by President Wilson.

A breakdown at the Consumers Gas Co. plant caused a 3 PM disruption, leaving the Democrat with many errors as gas supply stuttered, delaying local news coverage.

English subjects killed in Mexican town fight

An Englishman was killed and four other British subjects wounded in Tuxpan Mexico during a clash between Carranzistas and Villistas. Victims included S B Jones Thonng Mallard and his wife and child and A T Graves with Mallard and Graves severely injured. The town was held by Villistas and the conflict lasted about five days. Obregon reportedly won a victory over Villa at Leon.

Night battles around Neuville deepen trench ruins

During the night the enemy counterattacked three times as fighting swirled around Neuville and the Labyrinth. Ruined trenches filled with the dead and wounded while artillery fire continued and no side could evacuate the injured.
