William W. Goltra of Crawfordsville was elected supreme keeper of tribute for the Supreme Tribe of Ben Hur at the twelfth biannual meeting. He succeeds Samuel E. Voris, who died last week. Goltra has served sixteen years with the order and six years as assistant in the treasurer's office, familiar with investments and funds.
New York June 4 The battleship Tennessee the largest afloat went into commission at the Brooklyn navy yard. Built for 29 006 000 she measures 625 feet long with a 98 foot beam and 32 000 tons displacement. It features a mast top fighting brain and rapid electrical speed control enabling speed shifts and instant signaling across the ship. The crew is drawn entirely from its namesake state.
The Hungarian delegation signed the treaty of peace today in Parris with Ambassador Wallace signing for the United States. The notice appears in the Democrat Classified column advertising second hand articles.
The Senate expenditures committee heard of more than 200000 dollars raised for Major General Leonard Wood's campaign. This joined the previously reported 1180000 dollars in national fund totals. Eastern treasurer Horace Stebbins disclosed additional collections that Sprague did not know about.

He noted 156000 spent as Wood league treasurer with NY figures including Harold Goodrich Effhu Root and Ambrose Monell.
Eugene Duvall a prison convict was brought from Michigan City to Indianapolis to testify in Sheriff Robert Miller’s jail guards trial. He leaped from a swiftly moving train five miles north of the city and was reported to be recovering. Duvall had been jailed in Marion County and Chicago police records indicate past assaults and robberies.
Rain over three days raised White river toward danger in Petersburg Indiana threatening a fourth overflow this year. If floods recur, river bottom farms and late planted corn face losses and idle land. The Pike County White River Farmers' association seeks quick action on improvements to straighten widen and levee the river to protect lands and reclaim wet acres.
John Fletcher vice president of Fort Dearborn National Bank told the National Association of Real Estate Boards that there is no panic risk if people remain rational. He cited sustained demand for agricultural and other goods and noted the shift from debtor to creditor nation status. Indiana delegates arrived by noon with Evansville lacking a state board presence. Indianapolis board president Thomas F. Carson reported twenty five attendees at roll call.
London June 4. A British battleship stood off the Irish coast today with 1000 Royal Marines aboard. The troops were to be unloaded at once and the ship was expected to return promptly for a second cargo of troops.
Philadelphia June 4 private detectives arrest Mrs Catherine Currdon a servant for the Coughlins of Norristown on suspicion in the kidnapping of their 13 month old son James Malone 27 is also in custody for questioning.
Secretary of State Franklin Polk resigns, accepted by President Wilson. Health and financial concerns cited as reasons. Resignation effective July 1. White House confirms the move today in Washington.
Secret service and detectives sweep Cincinnati for Grover Cleveland Bergdoll the Philadelphia draft evader who escaped guards. A hotel mix up with two men posing as a couple and a woman buying a wig and a skirt are noted as clues before Bergdoll and companion vanished. A $500 reward boost is approved by Greensburg American Legion for Bergdoll’s capture.
For the first time in Princeton organized labor brings all crafts together for memorial services at First M. E. church Sunday at 2 pm. Rev. Horace Sprague delivers the principal address with Rev. C. E. Flynn and Rev. Fr. Hassel assisting. Graves at Maple Hill Warnock and nearby cemeteries will be decorated, followed by Odd Fellows cemetery services. Charles Skelton's orchestra provides music. A Central Labor Union organized march to the Odd Fellows cemetery ends the day.
Consolidated Oil Development Company and Van Hook Nicholson report a successful Hightower farm well near Oatsville yielding 100 to 150 barrels daily. Deeper drilling tops the N W Schaeffer farm by Noble & Balyard, where a 100 barrel flow in 14 hours signals a valuable field under rapid development with several rigs moving on multiple leases.
Cleanup Week is well observed in Princeton with residents complying to free trash pickup. Street Commissioner Tichenor notes the task is immense but progressing as wagons haul away loads from areas south of Broadway and east of Main. Residents must place loadables ready on property and trim trees to at least ten feet above street level to avoid charges. EK. B. Stevens of Francisco was in Princeton on business.
Miss Myrtle R. Cook daughter of Mr and Mrs John Cook from Seminary Street, and Robert A. Daugherty son of Mr and Mrs Will Daugherty formerly of this city, were among nine graduates of Benjamin Harrison Law School in Indianapolis. They attended a Columbia Club banquet after graduation. Both are well known in Princeton. Miss Cook previously worked as a stenographer for Attorney Thomas Duncan for several years.
Washington township farmer Willis Hynemann lies critically ill at Methodist Hospital and is not expected to live. He has not regained consciousness since collapsing Wednesday while waiting in an automobile for a doctor conference. His wife Mrs Hyneman, already seriously ill, unable to leave home, has suffered a relapse due to the shock.
Paris June 4 completion of exhumation in Brest’s larger American cemetery shows 65 percent of bodies requested by relatives, signaling possible proportion to be removed from all American cemeteries in France. Remaining bodies at Brest to be moved later to larger fields of honor.
The Children’s Day exercises at Fairview Church will be held Sunday evening at 7 30 at the church. Everyone is invited to attend.
