Providence Rhode Island June 1 The graphic tale of a double suicide pact was told by James OBrien 21 who is held for the murder of Beatrice Walter 19 Beatrice was found dead from a bullet wound on a lonely road near Fields Point They walked together last evening and Beatrice fired first OBrien said he tried to shoot himself but the bullet hit his belt buckle Police report the account as given by the suspect.
Indianapolis June 1 prominent Masons from across the United States began arriving for the Grand Imperial Council assembly opening tomorrow. Robert A. Woods of Princeton present grand sovereign and his wife were among arrivals. They were met at the station and escorted to the Claypool hotel.

The Public Service Commission orders the Big Four to reconstruct the weakened trestle on the Indiana side leading to the Wabash steel bridge below Vincennes on the Vincennes to St Francisville line. The February flood collapsed the trestle, sending a passenger engine into the water and killing engineer Otto Hazelton. The company must file monthly reports, patrol and inspect the trestle during high water. Hazelton formerly resided in Washington.

Frank Biermann, an insurance manager from Chicago, was drowned when his car crashed through a bridge and into Lake George in Hammond Indiana. Police recovered his body after dragging the lake.
A car driven by Willis and Pauley on a Knox County ferry sank into eight feet of water after the engine stalled on the ferry boat. The front end submerged while the rear remained on the vessel, throwing the entire family into the river with no drownings reported.
