Mt Carmel area police investigate after Mrs Henry Adams 20 is found unconscious with severe head injuries near a west Mt Carmel road. They suspect Barney Bertleman 18 drove the car earlier and fled. motive unknown. Adams slight improvement at times.
A downtown Kansas City block was wrecked by an explosion causing one death and more than a dozen injuries. Rescue teams searched for victims as debris trapped hotel guests and a restaurant blast fed flames with gasoline in a nearby shop.
