George Littrual aged eight confessed with a young sweetheart to murder his insane wife to permit marriage. Lizzie Brooks died at Central Hospital for the Insane and two attendants became ill after eating poison laced candy sent to Mrs Littrual.
Evansville police joined local officers in a search for a woman in blue who carried a four hour old infant from Baldwin Heights to Evansville on a Saturday night traction. The baby was abandoned in a hedge near 522 South Second Street and later named Andy Friedle by Evansville police.
Joe Bauerly a baker at the Home bakery reports his wife and two children Joseph James Jr 7 and Juanita 10 left their Henderson Kentucky home a week ago. He says she went to her parents place and received a telegram that sparked a dispute. Bauerly says he later received a telegram promising a Sunday return, but no word since.
Riverside, California reports a quake just before 8 oclock with no damage per police. Warsaw and Paris dispatches note Bolshevik Polish armistice and renewed Red Army attacks, with Polish forces retreating along the front.
Other county miners join in a day workers strike as mines at Ft Branch Francisco and Oakland City close today after unauthorized walkout. Mines had operated Tuesday and stampede strike at Ft Branch Monday with workers reporting back on Tuesday.
More than 6,000 people gathered at a field near Oakland City for plowing demonstrations and contests. Visitors came from Gibson county, Huntingburg, towns south on the E L line, including Evansville, with many Princeton residents also attending from Wednesday onward.
An A. T. and S. F. box car loaded with new baled hay caught fire Tuesday evening around 5 o clock during switching in the Southern shops yards. The shop fire department quickly extinguished the blaze with little damage to the car or its contents.

Thomas Brewster chairs the central field operators committee and calls a conference to decide on a joint approach with Indiana Illinois and Kansas. Steel mills in Gary and Calumet district lay off workers amid coal shortages.
In Evansville today the coal bureau reports an unauthorized miners strike has spread to about 22 mines with day workers refusing to work. Mines in Boonville Petersburg Newburg and Princeton are idle.
Indiana coal miners in unauthorized strikes will be asked to return to work tomorrow while wage demands of day workers are reviewed. Ten delegates from nine locals met with District President Sid Stewart and Secretary William Mitch and proposed a two week period to resolve pay disputes. About 75 of 80 mines in Indiana were idle due to unequal wages.

In Sandy Hook New Jersey on July 28 the American defender Resolute won the 1920 America's Cup final race against Sir Thomas Lipton's Shamrock IV by three to two. The finish occurred at 7 52 22 unofficial time with Resolute edging Shamrock IV as wind and time pressed the close contest to its end.
Attorney General A Mitchell Palmer reached a agreement with coal industry representatives in New York to appoint a committee to fix a maximum price for bituminous coal. The plan targets firms earning profits beyond the fair margin and allows investigation and prosecution under the Lever Act.
Secretary of Labor Wilson has been recalled to Washington by President Wilson to oversee labor department work during the Illinois coal strike. He is expected to report to the president soon on the situation, with action to depend on his assessment.
