Mr and Mrs B F Hatfield and two sons Junior and John Robert of Indianapolis have returned after visiting Dr and Mrs Bb F Hatfield near Union.
Initiative petitions were placed in circulation in Los Angeles after a meeting of motor car dealers and transport interests to address the gasoline shortage. The move aims to make gasoline a public utility.
Parley P. Christensen of the Farmer-Labor party stirred a July Chicago meeting when he urged unity with La Follette, saying he would not block the forty-eighters if La Follette could be persuaded to lead. The scene disrupted about 200 of 1,200 delegates as J. H. Hopkins led the forty-eighters.
An auction sale next Saturday in Princeton draws strong interest with Col. T B Scott as auctioneer in charge. Articles listed include a four room house a mare several colts two wagons two autos and large corn stock. More than thirty thousand residents within easy reach are expected to attend.
The English-Princeton Oil company will build a six inch pipeline from its Meade farm gaser in Washington township to Oatsville to supply natural gas for boilers and engines. Alson Roberts and A. J. Meyers announced plans to extend the pipeline to Princeton for city use. Meyers, of Lagootee Fuel and Light, will move his family to South Hart street.
In Indianapolis on July 15 the adult probation officer criticizes women's factory work as a danger to morals. Ralph D. Thomas cites rising cases in juvenile court, blaming industrial conditions for moral erosion as wives and mothers face new temptations in urban factories. He notes husbands filing affidavits for offenses and warns rural women unsettled by city life. Immigrant movement and parental employment also rise as concerns.
Brick and other material for the remodeling of the St. Joseph Catholic church on South Race street are arriving. The frame church will be moved to a location south of its current site on the big church lot and will receive brick veneering and other changes to its outward appearance.
Through the courtesy of P S Armstrong Rotarians and their wives are invited to attend a Montgomery Township Farmers association meeting at the high school Owensville tonight. Farmer John Dyer of Vincennes will deliver the principal address. Mrs Carl Church and daughter are visiting relatives in Evansville.
In Indianapolis on July 15 the Senate adjourned for the day amid committee delay. The Houston bill to abolish the public service commission and set up a railroad commission advanced without a committee recommendation. The House postponed action while considering the eugenics health certificate for marriage licenses and a vetoed vet license bill. The special session faces higher costs if it runs into next week.
A 24 year old Detroit woman Miss Vernia Morrison says she is eager to shoot Niagara Falls in a barrel and asks where to obtain a permit. Mayor Thompson vows to prevent such foolhardy stunts. No trace yet of Bristol barber Charles G Stephena who died going over the falls.
July 15 report from San Antonio says rebels led by Recardo Gonzales attacked Nuevo Laredo across the Rio Grande with 300 to 600 fighters. Federal garrison of about ninety men including Indians held the assault.
New London July 15 Mrs Florence M De Cordova wife of Arthur E De Cordova a New York broker fought for life against a love crazed chauffeur Bernard B Geissler who shot her then killed himself Fingerprints on the throat and blunt force injuries indicate a brutal struggle Prosecutor Hewitt says the killing may have been an impulsive act rather than premeditated The chauffeur and Mrs De Cordova were seen together on local roads last week prior to the tragedy
Fifty armed men raided Dublin's main post office early today seizing government mail. Several constables were wounded in a clash with Sinn Feiners at Wyome.
Four Army Air Service planes departed from Mitchell Field at 12 33 PM on a cross country flight to Nome Alaska after a delayed start due to rain.

Jack Johnson telephoned from Tijuana to U S district attorney J R O Connor in Los Angeles and repeated his offer to cross the border and surrender to federal authorities if treated with proper courtesy. O Connor said the offer was refused and Johnson would be treated as any other criminal.
Town ship trustees may not grant more than $15 in aid to any person or family without county commissioners approval. Walter Owen of the state board of accounts explains that $15 is a total cap per case, not a monthly limit, and further aid requires board authorization.
Jeffersonville Ind July 1 The Indiana state reformatory already short of funds is actually paying its way. In June receipts surpassed expenditures except for permanent improvements leaving about 1200 in profit. For the year ending Sept 30 1919 earnings topped 110000 up from 40000 the previous year.
Red Ryder, a Baldwin tool works employee, narrowly escaped death when mandrel set screws caught in his hair. Hair torn out and scalp torn but injury deemed not serious. Also at the plant Verne Kell, a fireman, collapsed from heat Tuesday.
The census bureau released 1920 population totals with Martin county Indiana at 21 865 down 1 085 from 1910 and Posey county Indiana at 19 334 down 2 336 from 1910. Also noted: Mrs Aileen Miller visited near the city with Mrs I N Sloan and returned to Evansville today.
A mob stormed the French legation in Berlin after the first reappearance of a French flag in the city. The incident followed a display of the tri color provoking unrest among onlookers and authorities.
CHICAGO July 16 The Farmer Labor party moved into national politics as Parley P. Christensen of East Lake City Utah was nominated for president and Max Hayes of Cleveland was chosen for vice president. The second ballot produced Christensen 192.5 to Malone 174.6 while Debs and Ford trailed. LaFollette was withdrawn at his son's request.
Indianapolis men formerly in the third division U S A held their first annual convention at the state house. The meeting opened on the second anniversary of the Maine with the division then in the Rhine occupation.

A 4 AM strike by 350 electrical workers halted Chicago streetcars, causing widespread delays and injuries. One woman died and many people were hurt in the resulting accidents as cars remained stalled on city streets during the service tie up.
