Washington report on the Knickerbocker theatre disaster details a steel and concrete roof collapse after heavy snow. The death toll rose hourly toward 125 as rescuers recovered bodies and treated 124 injured in hospitals.
The Daily Democrat plans to install a radio receiving apparatus with an amplifier to air news, weather, markets, sports, and nightly musical programs by world artists. The service will broadcast day and night with public schedules to be announced soon.
James Guthrie a 15 year old colored boy awaiting return to the boys school escaped Sunday morning while aiding in coal duty at the jail. Deputy Virgil Compton and inmate George Middleton were involved in the incident. Guthrie had earlier forged checks tied to his janitor employer Thomas Duncan and later to Mollie Guthrie, mother of the boy, with no charge against her. Guthrie was recaptured later at Lincoln high school and returned to custody.

Princeton firefighters swap hoses from the main truck to Cunningham Bros. vehicle for two days while repairs and overhauls are done. The replacement truck made its first run at the Appenfield property on South Rain street, with a minor blaze quickly controlled.
In the William Bruck riotous conspiracy case the court ruled that evidence about trouble at Enos switch near Oakland City after Francisco cannot be admitted. The ruling followed the defense objection to a bag of clothing seized from foreign workers, which was removed before jury. The decision was made permanent this morning.
Alexander Johnson Southern Railway engineer died after the engine on train No 24 overturned in New Albany yards. Fireman I A Crawford was injured but expected to recover. Johnson, 34, Detroit native, longtime Southern employee, left a widow and several siblings. Funeral plans pending.
The Princeton Carpenters Local is to lead a push to organize a local union in Oakland City this week. President William Kitchen and Secretary Richard Hornbrook attended the meeting, where ten signatures were already gathered toward a charter. A charter is needed and officials will meet Tuesday to finalize the process.
Berger Seed company shows a two bushel bag of Hubham sweet clover seed costing 141.75 to the firm excluding transport. The rare seed, first brought to Gibson county, aims to spark local farming interest after success in Alabama and at experimental stations.
A free moving picture program under Southern Railway will be shown at the high school auditorium Thursday at 7 20 p.m. The event is part of the National Railway association Safety First campaign to reduce railway accidents. It features Careless America about automobile carelessness at crossings and The House That Jack Built showing a switchman’s life, plus Beautiful Yosemite for entertainment.
Mrs Bryant Watkins of south Gibson Street claimed the pocketbook advertised in The Daily Democrat Classified Column. It had been lost Saturday near the west side of the square and found by Mrs Harry Wheelhouse and her daughter from near Owensville while they were in the city shopping.
